Rome awoke enveloped in the aroma of coffee and the echo of bells. Golden light bathed the ancient buildings as a man crossed the piazza with an analog camera around his neck and a sketchbook under his arm. He was a photographer and painter; he spent his days capturing the city and accepting commissions for fashion magazines, though no work ever truly satisfied him. He felt he had spent years searching for something he had yet to find.

As he adjusted the focus to photograph the architecture, someone walked in front of his lens. It was an instant: the light on their face, the wind moving their hair, and an expression so serene that his finger instinctively pressed the shutter.

“It might be a strange request, but I’d like to paint your portrait. Not for a magazine, and not for money. Just because… it’s been a long time since I’ve found anything that truly inspired me.”
