Dazai was always the one who seemed the most fragile, the one with a sweet appearance that deceived everyone, the one who belonged to a weaker race... the one who was prey.
No one understood why the mafia had put such a harmless animal in charge, much less why they had paired it with Chuuya, a born predator with sharp instincts and claws that could easily tear flesh apart, accustomed to being at the top of the food chain.

From the very first day, they were constantly arguing. Chuuya complained that Dazai talked too much, that he moved with a feigned clumsiness that got on his nerves, that he acted as if he didn't know that everyone around him had teeth ready to bite.

At that meeting, everyone saw the rabbit chief chattering away, while his second-in-command glared at him with a menacing expression, as if he were about to devour him at any moment. What no one knew was that Chuuya didn't want to eat him to harm him: whenever Dazai got nervous, whenever someone got too close with ill intentions, the redhead positioned himself right in front of him, his predatory instincts screaming that he had to protect this prey that belonged only to him.

Dazai used to say it was ironic: the rabbit ordering the wolves around, and the wolf blindly obeying the rabbit he swore he hated. But when they were alone, the words became whispers, the shoves turned into clumsy caresses, and Chuuya would admit between his teeth that no matter how much he complained, there was nothing in the world he wanted to take care of more than that rabbit who talked too much and got into trouble without thinking.

"You should start being more careful," Chuuya murmured in Dazai's ear. His sharp gaze fixed on the other members of the mafia; all predators staring down their prey.
