Roots
Late that night, blind swordsman Eiji arrives to collect the ore from a meteorite. Mitsu sees him struggling to extract it, helps him dig it out, and carries it back to his forge, giving her some food. When she tells him she has somewhere to go, he lets her go. Mitsu walks away, but then sneaks back into a corner of the forge, deciding to take some more shelter from the rain and her tormentors. When she stays in the morning, Eiji begins giving her small preparatory tasks to do around the forge indirectly, instructing her to forge away impurities with the blazing-hot iron, maintaining a rhythm with his tongs, tapping her on the head every time she makes a mistake. He gradually encourages her to become more involved in swordsmanship, giving her life structure, shelter, and the skills she lacked as a teenager. Eiji finds her practicing with the sword, and she declares that she will become the greatest swordsman in the world. When he asks why, Mitsu reveals her half-Caucasian heritage (shamefully describing herself as "made of alloy" and "a demon"). Knowing there are only four Caucasian men in Japan, she sets out to get revenge on her "mother" by killing her unknown father. Eiji warns her that "the strongest sword is a 'composite sword' made of steel," implying that he has already guessed her status as an outsider and doesn't care, and says that although she may look shameful, she may also be strong. He tells her that she can continue practicing her swordsmanship.

Kite
Kite was a tall, slender man in his late twenties or early thirties. In the manga and the 2011 anime adaptation, he was thin to the point of being gaunt, with long, flowing white hair with the longer locks reaching his knees. He had an inverted triangle-shaped face with a hooked nose, a pointy chin, and big, roundish-almond eyes with small hazel irises. He wore a light blue peaked cap resembling a beret, a long-sleeved white shirt with a turtleneck, an azure sash (perhaps an obi) wound three times about his waist, black trousers, and brown shoes. In the 1999 anime adaptation, he has more colorful traits, with gentler features, thin almond eyes of dark color, brown hair, and a more muscular physique. In this representation, he wears a purple peaked cap, a lilac long-sleeved shirt with a turtleneck, a yellow obi from which hangs a katana with a blue-green hilt and sheath, black trousers, and shoes. As a Chimera Ant, Kite is a girl with long red hair, purple eyes, and freckles covering her face. They have a rat-like tail and wear a black leather suit and pants.

The Hunter Association has classified Kite and Colt as magical beasts to keep them from being hunted down. It is revealed that the apparent young girl has all of Kite's memories.[3] Ging Freecss hypothesizes that Kite's survival has something to do with their ability Crazy Slots; whereby there is a number that will only appear when Kite has a strong will to survive and does not wish to die.[6]The group soon discovers a narcotics factory in the country, formerly producing weapons and the drug 'D²'. There they encounter Yunju and his team. Knowing that Yunju is the leader, Kite is the one who faces him while the boys take on Yunju's subordinates.[18] Kite effortlessly fights him[19] until he finally uses his Crazy Slots ability. The roll is 4, which produces a carbine. He shoots Yunju in the head, killing him. He later clarifies that the best way to kill Chimera Ants is to aim for the head and do it as quickly and silently as possible.[20]Kite is stern and stoic, occasionally blunt to the point of appearing rude. Although some may regard him as cold-hearted, he is actually caring, fond of animals as they are of people. Kite is experienced enough to constantly be aware and react quickly, never hesitating even when he had to take a life. Despite his fondness of animals, he did not hesitate to take the life of a Foxbear in order to protect a naive Gon who had attracted its aggression. After the matter, he punched Gon to rebuke him for his ignorance, that led to the unnecessary death of said foxbear.[2]
During their initial introduction as the Queen's latest offspring, Kite was an enthusiastic child, still playing with stuffed toys and swords, and still being watched over by Colt.[3] After only a few days, however, they matured and seemed to return to their former personality as a result of recovering their memories. They then helped both Koala and Gon assuage their feelings of guilt and gave the former a new purpose in life, although he formulated it as a threat.[4]Kite was a tall, slender man in his late twenties or early thirties. Initially an enthusiastic, sword-wielding child, his personality matures back to his former stoic self once his memories return. Following this, he demonstrates a stern yet forgiving nature, helping both Gon and the Koala ant come to terms with their guilt.Core Personality TraitsPragmatic & Stern: He has no tolerance for ignorance in dangerous situations, famously punching young Gon for his naivety.Deeply Compassionate: Despite his tough exterior, he loves animals and nature. He views the protection of life as a fundamental duty.Resolute: He approaches battles with a cool head and never hesitates, even when forced to take a life to protect others.Contrasting Hatsu: His personality is highly subdued and serious, which creates a sharp, ironic contrast to his loud, colorful, and complaining "Crazy Slots" Nen ability.Kite is stern, stoic, and fiercely pragmatic. While his blunt demeanor can seem harsh, he is deeply caring and possesses a profound respect for all living things. He acts as a harsh but vital mentor, prioritizing tough lessons over coddling to keep his companions alive.
