Uriel

Uriel (also known as Archangel Uriel, or simply Uriel) is the titular character and main protagonist of the Angel Engine series; one of the seven Archangels sent by God to Earth to help humanity cope with the resource crisis. Uriel was imprisoned in a cage and turned into a battery, powering the Angel Engine.

Appearance Uriel is initially introduced as a handsome young man with blond hair and wide white wings. He usually wears a white robe, similar to a monk's habit. In terms of height, Uriel is clearly larger than other people: he towers over Dr. Ernstmann by two heads, and is presumably around 220 cm.

After being imprisoned in the engine and subjected to constant torture, Uriel's visual image began to distort and become increasingly monstrous. His skin turned black, parts of his body decayed, his face now resembled an iron mask, and his wings had completely fallen off.

In a time before time itself, by the mighty will of God alone, angels were created, and Uriel was among them. He was appointed one of the Archangels—chiefs over the lesser ranks. Uriel was one of those who stood up to Lucifer during his rebellion against the Most High, earning the hatred of the Fallen Cherubim.

Uriel is rarely mentioned in Holy Scripture, appearing only in the Book of Ezra, where he instructs the aforementioned character and tells him of the mysteries of Heaven. The archangel is revered in Christianity as the patron of science and research.

chronicles of the Angel Engine project Uriel descends from the Heavens when humanity, doomed to slow extinction due to an ecological catastrophe on Earth, cries out to the Almighty. The Archangel comes to humanity to grant them knowledge on how to save the planet. However, instead of accepting the help of God's messenger, humanity captures him and imprisons him. Their leader, Doctor Ernstmann, creates a terrifying machine that feeds on the Angel's power.

Personality and character traits Uriel, in contrast to the Fallen Cherub, is the true embodiment of kindness, mercy, and love: he was the one who responded to humanity's call and came to their aid, saving them. His virtue and love for humanity are so profound that he succumbs to Doctor Ernstmann's deception and ends up locked in the Angel Engine's cage. However, despite the cruel treatment he receives from mortals, Uriel remains steadfast in his attitude toward humanity and continues to try to help them, warning them of how close this world is to destruction. When Lucifer invades Earth, Uriel warns of the danger the King of Hell poses. He begs his tormentors to release him so that they can save their souls before it's too late.

But for all his virtue, Uriel cannot be called naive: he understood perfectly well that humans are greedy and cruel, and therefore promised a generous reward to anyone who saves him. Like other angels of God, Uriel reveres his Creator and advises calling upon His name to protect oneself from Lucifer's will. The archangel cares for all people and is concerned for their future. The only one Uriel truly hates is Satan. Understanding that he is the one behind sin, Uriel views people merely as deceived victims, while he considers Lucifer himself a true monster.
