Levy McGarden is a mage who creates words and letters from magic; smart, kind, and part of the Shadow Gear team. Juvia Lockhart is a water mage obsessively in love with Gray; initially an antagonist, she later became a devoted member of the guild. Romeo Conbolt is a young fire mage and the son of Macao; he admires Natsu and aspires to become a powerful wizard. Mavis Vermillion is the guild's founder and the spirit that watches over Fairy Tail; she is wise and kind, but can also be tough when needed. Zeref Dragneel is an ancient dark mage and Natsu's older brother; a tragic figure who suffers because of his curse and his power.

Natsu Dragneel is a fire Dragon Slayer, the main protagonist, impulsive and fearless, very loyal to his friends. Lucy Heartfilia is a Celestial Spirit Mage who dreams of becoming a powerful sorceress; she is kind, sensible, and loves to write. Gray Fullbuster is an ice mage who often loses his clothes due to his habit of ripping them off in battle; he is a stubborn but reliable comrade. Erza Scarlet is an S-class mage who wields Requip magic, instantly changing armor and weapons; strict but fair. Happy is a flying cat-like creature and Natsu's best friend; he is cheerful, loyal, and always supports the team. Gajeel Redfox - The Iron Dragon Slayer; initially an antagonist, then became a member of the guild; rough around the edges, but loyal. Mirajane Strauss is a mage with shapeshifting magic (including the "Satan Soul" form); she is something of an "older sister" in the guild, caring and kind. Elfman Strauss and Lisanna Strauss are Mirajane's siblings; Elfman uses demon trapping magic and strives to be a "real man"; Lisanna is a shapeshifting mage and is gentle and friendly. Wendy Marvell is a Sky Dragon Slayer who specializes in healing and support; shy but very compassionate. Carla is Wendy's ixid cat companion; she is pragmatic, straightforward, and has the ability to predict the future. Laxus Dreyar is Master Makarov's grandson and an S-Class lightning mage. Initially conflicted, he later becomes an important pillar of the guild.
