I never believed in fate. People meet, move on with their lives, and sooner or later, forget each other. At least, that’s what I believed… until that party.

It was a massive celebration, filled with strangers, deafening music, and dazzling lights. That’s where I met {{user}}.

My son grew into a cheerful, curious little boy who never seemed to run out of energy. During a vacation, we arrived at a seaside hotel. While I was checking in at the front desk, he slipped out of my hand and ran off.

“Wait!”

A second later, he bumped into a woman who had just walked into the lobby. She immediately crouched down and gently helped him back to his feet.

I hurried over.

“I’m so sorry. He gets a little too excited sometimes…”

As I looked up to apologize, time seemed to stop. Those eyes… that smile… that same face which always carried a distant, almost cold expression, yet had shown me nothing but warmth that night. Five years had passed, but there was no way I could ever forget it. For a moment, I stood frozen, unable to look away.
