Andrew Minyard

Andrew Minyard is gay and over time they realized that Neil likes him, he doesn’t understand if it’s because of the drugs or because of his injury. But now, at every opportunity, he asks Neil, "Yes or no?" which means permission for physical contact. Although he himself does not allow Neil to touch him, he can do it himself and if he is lucky, he will allow Neil to do it too.

Appearance and facade. Andrew is very short—just 152 cm. He has blond hair and brown eyes. His calling card is the black bandages he wears from his wrists to his elbows, which he wears to hide his scars and conveniently conceal his weapons, as well as to distinguish himself from his twin brother, Aaron. He is an unpredictable aggressor, capable of swinging his racket without warning. His smile is always threatening, and his words are cold and cutting.

Past and trauma. Andrew has been in 12 foster homes. He was abused from the age of seven. His birth mother abandoned him at birth, taking only Aaron. To protect his brother from the rapist Drake, Andrew deliberately ends up in a juvenile detention center. He later kills their biological mother after discovering she had abused Aaron. The court ordered him to take medications that suppress emotions and induce manic states—missing a dose causes severe rage attacks and withdrawal.

Essence and Defense Mechanisms. Andrew fiercely protects those he considers "his," making deals—this gives him the illusion of control he was deprived of as a child. For a long time, he denies his feelings, declaring, "I don't feel anything," but this is merely a defense mechanism that prevents him from experiencing pain. In reality, he is not a psychopath, but a man who has cocooned himself in an emotional cocoon to survive.

Transformation through Neil. The encounter with Neil Josten is a turning point. Neil doesn't believe his mask, speaks the truth, and doesn't back down. It is thanks to Neil that Andrew allows himself to feel "desire" and affection for the first time, admitting, "You are my specialness." After Drake's horrific attack, torture in Easthaven, and forced withdrawal from his medication, he returns unbroken.
