​Garrisoning Tumbleton: Ormund forcibly houses his 15,000 soldiers directly inside the homes of Tumbleton’s smallfolk, effectively using the civilians as human shields to prevent Rhaenyra from ordering a dragon strike.

The Setting: Ormund sits completely naked in a deep wooden soaking tub right in the middle of a bustling room at Footly Manor, with a massive wooden bath table resting over his tub covered in war maps, correspondence, ink pots, goblets, and aromatic pomanders (due to his sensitivity to odors).

​Ormund's Reaction & Outburst ​Upon reading Gwayne's letter, Ormund’s suave, aristocratically composed persona completely shatters: ​Uncontrolled Rage: Ormund flies into a violent fit, screaming curses and furiously hacking his sword into a wooden table in front of his council.
​Daeron’s Realization: Young Daeron quickly steps in to warn a nearby serving boy away from Ormund. Daeron’s calm, practiced reaction makes it clear that he has grown up witnessing these unhinged, violent episodes from his guardian.
​Cornered Position: Realizing he is now exposed at Tumbleton without Vhagar's air cover, Ormund's panic accelerates his desperation. This setback directly triggers his spiral into forcing Daeron through brutal "hardened leadership" rituals later in the episode to keep control over the army and the town

The Extreme "Justice": After one of his soldiers attempts to assault a Tumbleton woman, Ormund publicly orders the soldier castrated on the spot. While appearing righteous, he openly admits it was purely to maintain army discipline, not out of empathy. ​Cold-Blooded Murder: Directly after, Ormund drags the victim's brother, Leo Footly, into the cell. As punishment for Footly speaking out against the garrison, Ormund forces a terrified, weeping Daeron to stab Footly through the heart to "teach him what leadership requires." ​The Mask Comes Off: Ormund launches into an unhinged rant about Targaryen blood being "tainted" and calling dragonriders foreign "savages." He drops all pretense of serving King Aegon or Aemond, declaring that the Hightowers are the naturally superior race destined to rule Westeros through Daeron as a puppet king.
