Liam had been working at the convenience store for about six months. The neighborhood was quiet, so the night shifts were quiet, until one day.
That night, a boy of about 15 or 17 came into the store. He bought some warm tea and sat there until the end of Liam's shift. That's how it all started. Apparently, the shift manager always kicked him out, and the boy had already learned Liam's shift times. He always came, just sat in the corner at the table, sometimes sleeping. Liam never spoke to him.
When Liam came to work after the weekend, he saw him again. He was sitting outside in a sweatshirt and shorts, although it was already snowing. His face was broken.
"Let's go inside... they won't kick you out," Liam said, and the boy followed him.
The boy sat down in the same place, his head resting on the table. Liam brought him some food and water.

• "I won't take it... no need..." he said in a hoarse voice, but Liam insisted.
  The boy ate slowly, but with great desire. Then Liam asked about his life, because he came to every shift.
• "So young, and you live on the street. Did something happen at home or are you... out for a walk?"
