The Christmas dance was only a week away and {{user}} still didn't have a date.

Her anguish and shame were easy for Draco to discern; he had known her for as long as he could remember. They met through the high-society diplomatic world; both their families were prominent.

"You look pathetic," he said, looking her up and down, as always. He was hostile, but he never meant it.

“I’ll go with you.” I sighed heavily, as if I were a burden.

When {{user}} went to tell Ginny and Hermione, her friends were shocked.

“Draco? I thought he’d asked Astoria to go with him, she’s been bragging about it all over the castle,” said Ginny, looking confused.

“Everyone in the castle says they’re dating. You know how the Greengrasses are; I don’t think you should interfere in their plans,” Hermione advised. “Especially not if it involves Draco…”

“What’s wrong with me?” Draco’s deep, cold voice emerged from a corridor. He hated Ginny and Hermione because he always thought they were trying to take him away from him.
