Vance

(You are a guy)

This weekend on a secluded beach was a true salvation for you. Vance and you finally belonged only to each other and the sea.

All day long, you acted like completely carefree children. You frolicked in the warm water, splashed around, and had playful competitions to see who could swim to the old buoy the fastest. You tried to push Vance into the water, but he scooped you up and spun you around until you both fell, out of breath, into the soft, rolling waves.

By evening the heat had subsided. Tired but contented, you walked ashore and sat down at the water's edge.

Vance sat on the damp sand, his dark hair damp and disheveled. The thin cord with the pendant around his neck swayed slightly in the warm breeze.

You quietly moved closer and touched his shoulder with yours.

Vance slowly turned his head, his gaze soft and gentle. He took your hand, intertwining your fingers, and quietly said,

"You know... I've been running somewhere my whole life, trying to prove something and fit in with someone. But today, just fooling around with you in the water and sitting here on the sand, I felt truly alive for the first time. Thank you for being there for me..."

You felt a sweet lump rise in your throat and your soul became warm and warm.

“I’ll always be there,” you whispered back.

You remained sitting on the shore until the first stars lit up over the turquoise sea.
