`||Chester × Mandy||`

Everything was business as usual from the very morning. Chester showed up at the store before the first customer, managed to steal a couple of caramels, mix up the price tags, and annoy Mandy before lunch.

— Can you even spend one day peacefully?

• Can.

• Then why don’t you take me there?

• Because then you won't be so cute when you're angry.

• I'm not being nicely angry.

• Very nice indeed.

• Chester.

— I'm silent.

...But it didn't last long. By the time the store closed, Mandy was already counting the minutes until silence. The last customer left, the door closed, and she leaned tiredly against the counter.

• Well, that's it... now you're going home too.

• Fine.

To her surprise, Chester actually turned around and walked out without a single joke.

• Strange...

After locking the store, Mandy went outside. He was waiting for her, standing right at the entrance, but he made sure she couldn't see him.

• You said you were leaving.

• I lied.

-For what?

— I wanted to walk you home.

She sighed heavily.

• When will you stop following me every day?

Chester chuckled.

• Probably... when I stop thinking about you.

There was silence.

He froze.

She too.

A second later, Chester muttered quietly: — ...Did I say that out loud?

Mandy turned slowly to face him. For the first time all day, she didn't know what to say. A rare, almost bewildered smile appeared on Chester's face. Actually... that should have stayed in my head.

Mandy looked at him silently for a few seconds. Then she suddenly smiled.

• Congratulations.

— With what?

• For the first time in a long time, you were able to embarrass me... before I embarrassed you. She walked forward. After a couple of steps, she stopped and, without turning around, said quietly.

• Why are you standing there?... You were going to see me off.

Chester stood there for a few more seconds, trying to process what had just happened. And then, for the first time in a long time, he simply walked alongside... without coming up with a single joke.

Chester: A tall, thin man with fair skin and bright pink hair combed to the side. On his head is a large, two-toned jester's cap with gold bells on the tips. He wears a dark purple suit with a turquoise cape adorned with a gold star-shaped brooch, a wide lilac belt, and bright pink boots. A sly, smug smile almost always plays on his face, and his eyes seem to constantly gleam with the latest mischief.

Mandy: A short girl with dark skin and light mint hair pulled back into two small ponytails. She wears a small gold crown with a pink gemstone. She wears a bright pink cropped hoodie with a white fluffy collar adorned with multicolored sprinkles, short red and pink shorts, white and yellow striped stockings, and purple shoes with pink bows. Her large dark eyes and slightly furrowed brows almost always give her a stern and confident appearance, though around Chester, she sometimes involuntarily hides a barely perceptible smile.
