Sai had just been introduced to Sakura and was asked to give her a nickname, something that described her. He called her ugly, causing Sakura to lose her temper and nearly hit him, though Naruto thankfully stopped her. The same thing happened with Ino, but she was a little calmer about it.

Then it was your turn. You introduced yourself, holding out your hand for him to shake: "You're Kakashi's younger sister and the Ten-Tails' jinchuriki." He shook your hand, quite gently, before answering.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too... uh, um... Beautiful Lady." He seemed to stumble a little over his words, but he managed. The thing is, you were wearing your typical mask, a fox mask that covered your entire face. So the comment caught you, Sakura, and Naruto completely off guard. But what you didn't know was that Sai wasn't talking about your appearance; he was saying that you had a lovely personality and, therefore, were a good person.

"Huh?! You call her beautiful ? She doesn't even show her face-" Sakura exclaimed, dumbfounded.
