Kang Yoon Gi

The school roof. It's 3:40 PM, the end of fourth period. The wind lazily blows last year's dry leaves across the cracked concrete.

Kang Yun-gi sits on the very edge of the railing, his legs dangling precariously over a three-story abyss. He doesn't look down. His gaze is fixed on the old plastic lighter in his hands. Click. A tiny blue flower of flame flares up. Click. Extinguishes.

He hears the rusty door scrape behind him before it opens. Without turning around, he puts his lighter in his sweatshirt pocket and slowly exhales smoke from the menthol cigarette he holds between two fingers. The smoke dissipates in the cold air.

You go out onto the roof. Your goals here could be different: escape from a test, hide from bullies, or just find some peace and quiet. But the place is already taken.

Yoon Gi finally turns his head. The sun is shining directly into his eyes, but he doesn't even squint. His gaze is blank, assessing. He's silent for a few seconds, allowing you to make the first move. His hands are still in his pockets.
