Denki is an accomplished electric guitarist and can draw detailed portraits. (Taiden ?) Electrification: Chargebolt's Quirk allows him to store and discharge electricity, coating his body with it. While he can discharge this energy remotely, he has little control over it, meaning it will spread indiscriminately. Exceeding the power limit causes his brain to short-circuit, rendering him vulnerable for 1 hour.[6]

Chargebolt is also capable of absorbing and neutralizing electricity and other lightning-related quirks.[7][8]

As part of his training, Chargebolt passed his electrical discharges through a high-capacity battery to learn how to handle large amounts of electricity.

Pointers: Disc-shaped projectiles that stick to targets. When Dani releases her electricity, it is attracted to the pointer she chooses. The maximum effective range is 10 meters. Optical Visor: A glasses-like accessory that provides Denki with sight information.

General Abilities: While Denki lacks any combat skills, he makes up for it with a fair amount of destructive and massive power from his Quirk. When using Electrification, Denki activates a defensive mechanism that strikes anyone who comes into contact with him, causing mild, if not complete, paralysis. This can make Denki challenging to handle in combat, especially for those who rely on close-quarters combat. Denki can also generate large amounts of electricity, allowing him to attack from a distance, but he cannot control the direction of the strike, damaging everything around him with or without physical contact. This aspect of Electrification makes Denki very effective against multiple opponents, but can also become a liability if he has nearby allies who cannot defend against his discharges. Denki can also use his electrokinetic abilities to transform into a makeshift lightning rod and deflect electrical attacks from opponents. Although Denki isn't among the smartest students in Class 1-A, he possesses some strategic and tactical skills. During a joint mock battle, he devised a strategy to defeat Ibara Shiozaki, one of the strongest students in Class 1-B. Having learned from his first fight with her at the U.S. Sports Festival that her vines were immune to electricity, Denki allowed himself to be captured and made the only captive so he could generate enough electricity to distract the opposing team. Denki's plan allowed Hitoshi Shinso to surreptitiously brainwash Ibara while Tsuyu Asui captured her, and then subdued Hiryu Rin, who in turn defeated Jurota. Denki's resourcefulness, which secured his team's victory, can be quite impressive when the situation calls for it.

Denki's academic abilities are not particularly impressive and he requires constant tutoring due to his general indifference to and disregard for his schoolwork. He's not particularly attentive in class, easily bored by lectures, and experiences anxiety attacks during tests, causing him to become increasingly agitated and aggressive. Denki's frequent lack of tact and intelligence both in and out of school can lead others to perceive him as stupid or dim-witted, leading them to make sarcastic remarks about him, particularly to Kyoka Jiro, or to underestimate his abilities as a hero. Despite this, Denki can demonstrate remarkable knowledge in fields such as literature, art, and music, possessing an extensive vocabulary that occasionally shows its inability to speak. Denki becomes stupefied when under stress, appearing spineless and incompetent to both enemies and allies. During battle, he quickly panics and can accidentally activate his Quirk in the face of imminent danger, leaving him vulnerable. He is reluctant to use his full power when allies are nearby, fearing the side effects of his explosive blasts could harm them. He becomes more confident in his combat abilities when he knows all his allies will be safe from his powers. He does not tolerate others looking down on him and his classmates and is willing to defend them if necessary. Whenever Denki exceeds his power limit, he loses the ability to generate electricity and temporarily turns into a giggling idiot until he returns to normal. In this state, he always shows two thumbs up, making it clear that he is okay.

In the eight years since the Final War, Denki has grown taller and slimmer, his bangs swept to the right and covering his forehead, and he wears gold hoop earrings. His outfit has been updated again, with his Sniper Suit improved, making it more streamlined, sleek, and less bulky than the original, and ammo capsules added to his wrist. His headset now features lightning bolts on both sides, his visor has been slightly modified, each pant leg now features multiple patterns with white highlights instead of a single one, the yellow trim on his jacket has been removed, and he now wears a yellow tank top with a white strap across the chest, along with dark teal boots with white soles and patterns. Denki is a friendly, outgoing, and energetic guy who enjoys spending time with others. He interacts quite casually with others, including the not-so-friendly Katsuki Bakugo, though he's not above complaining about minor things or overreacting if something irritates or shocks him. Denki can sometimes seem blunt and reckless, but he always has the best intentions. He's also the type of person who encourages others to be themselves and feel more comfortable doing what they enjoy. For example, he complimented Kyoka on her ability to play several instruments while preparing for the school festival in the United States.

Name in Kanji 上かみ鳴なり電でん気き Name in Romaji Kaminari Denki Nickname Denki Kaminari, also known as the Electric Shock Hero: Chargebolt (Sutan Gan Hiro Chajizuma?), was a student in Class 1-A at a U.S. high school, training to become a Pro Hero. Eight years after the Final War, Denki graduated from University A along with his classmates and became the current 44th Hero.[4] Denki is a fair-skinned boy with tousled golden-blond hair parted to the right with a black lightning bolt-shaped streak to the left of his bangs that partially obscures his left eye. He has slanted, slightly triangular golden eyes and small eyebrows. He is slimmer than most of his male classmates, with little visible muscle mass. His updated attire consists of a white V-neck shirt and a slightly shorter black jacket with fewer white patterns—only two at the hem and collar—as well as a white lightning bolt with a yellow border on each shoulder. He still wears black pants and brown shoes, but the pants only have a small white zigzag at each cuff. He also wears a white belt with cartridges for his pointer hanging from it. On his right wrist, he wears a bracelet with a circular mechanism that allows him to fire disc-shaped pointers to help him aim his Quirk. He also wears a black necklace with a silver buckle on the left side and a headset with a blue visor. During the Paranormal Liberation War, Denki developed a scar on the upper left side of his forehead from an injury he received from Mr. Compress, though his hair hides it fairly well.[5]

Hardening: Red Riot's Quirk allows him to harden and sharpen any part of his body, or his entire body, causing his flesh to become rough and rock-like.

There is a limit to how much damage his Tempered Body can withstand, causing the Tempering ability itself to gradually wear off and Eijiro to lose stamina trying to keep his Quirk active.[18] However, during his fight with Kendo Rappa, Red Riot demonstrated the ability to strengthen his Tempered Body mid-battle.[21]

As part of his training, Eijiro was constantly attacked by Mashirao Ojiro-Tail in his hardened form, and with each strike, the power and durability of his Quirk increased. Enhanced Strength: While using his Quirk, Eijiro's physical strength is increased, allowing him to overcome most obstacles. Eijiro has proven himself to be a formidable combatant. His abilities earned him second place in the UA Academy entrance exam, scoring equal points in both villainy and rescue,[10] and 8th place on the Quirk Comprehension test.[11] Thanks to his Quirk, Red Riot's straightforward and reckless fighting style allows his hardened body to withstand enemy blows and counterattack. Even bullets cannot penetrate his skin while his Quirk is active,[12] meaning Eijiro can act as a shield for allies or defenseless civilians.[13]

During the U.S.J. Incident, he and Katsuki attempted to fight Kurogiri, but they were transported[14] to another location, leaving them to fight low-level members of the League of Villains, whom they soon defeated.[15] Eijiro proved to be just as formidable an opponent as Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu, and thanks to their similar Quirks and fighting styles, they were roughly evenly matched during their battle at the UA Sports Festival, which ended in a draw.[16] The two stubborn students were evenly matched during the arm wrestling tiebreaker until Tetsutetsu's Steel Quirk began to weaken due to a lack of iron in his body.[17] Later, Eijiro impressively put Katsuki, one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, on the defensive for a while during their duel before his Quirk began to weaken, resulting in his defeat. Eijiro has repeatedly stated that he doesn't think much of his Quirk, Hardening, believing it lacks the showmanship of professional heroes. He would be downright offended if he saw someone with a similar Quirk.[7] Eijiro worries that his Quirk isn't strong enough to be a hero and that his skills won't compare to those of other potential heroes. Much of this self-doubt seems to stem from an incident in middle school, when he witnessed Mina Ashido protect an underclassman from bullying and save several students from a threatening figure.[8][9] His friends noted that Mina would quickly become a hero due to her outgoing personality and athletic build. After this, Eijiro considered himself boring and pathetic due to his inaction and powerlessness. However, thanks to an old recorded interview with his idol, Eijiro gained confidence and was able to overcome most of his fears. From that moment on, Eijiro began working hard, studying, and training. Eijiro decided to turn over a new leaf after being accepted into UA Academy. He became tough, confident, and hot-tempered, which he believes is perfect for the hero he aspires to be: the Red Riot. Although Eijiro isn't as hot-tempered or ambitious as Katsuki Bakugo, he doesn't hesitate to compare himself to him. According to Izuku, they managed to build a relationship on equal terms. Loyal and devoted to his friends, Eijiro is willing to break laws and rules to help or save them, and feels regret when he can't help. He has a strong sense of responsibility and is sometimes very harsh on himself for any negative consequences that befall him or his friends. Therefore, he constantly thinks about how to improve his abilities and strengths, so as not to feel weak or a burden to others. Eijiro Kirishima, also known as the Tough Hero: Red Riot (剛ごう健けんヒーロー 烈レッ怒ド頼ライ雄オッ斗ト, Gōken Hīrō Reddo Raiotto?), was a 1st-year student at U.A. High School, where he was training to become a Pro Hero.

Eight years after the Last War, Eijiro graduated from the Academy and became a Hero along with his classmates. Formerly Fatty Gama's assistant, he now ranks 12th among the Pro Heroes. Eijiro is a muscular young man of average height with a rather impressive physique for his age. He has red, slightly slanted eyes, a small scar above his right eye, small eyebrows, and sharp teeth. His hair is quite long, bright red, styled with gel and sticking out in all directions, with two more noticeable tufts resembling small horns jutting out on either side of his forehead. This luxurious hairstyle takes a full three minutes to style. Eijiro's Hero costume consists of two dark red, gear-shaped shoulder pads. A matching, toothed belt connects the left shoulder pad to the right by a red strap, the center of which bears a light red "R" signifying his hero name: Red Riot. Underneath, he wears baggy black pants and a red half-coat with a ragged hem. He also wears dark red boots and thick rings on his calves.
