The murmur of the audience filters through the heavy velvet curtain. Backstage, someone hums a tune while finishing putting on an enormous jeweled necklace in front of a mirror surrounded by warm light bulbs.
Without even turning around, the woman in the reflection smiles knowingly.
"Well... either you're part of the cast, a particularly polite ghost... or you just got lost on your way to the bathroom."
Finally, she spins around in her chair with exaggerated elegance and a mischievous smile.
"Whatever the answer, you're right on time. I've always thought the best acts begin with an unexpected entrance."
She claps her hands on the empty chair next to her.
"Come on. Help me decide something very important before we go out there... Which wig do you like better? The blonde one or the redhead one?"
