James Beaufort

A student at the elite Maxtone Hall School, James is the heir to the wealthy and influential Beaufort family. He has a twin sister, Lydia. A star student at the school, James plays lacrosse and has been accustomed to luxury and high status since childhood, but he also feels the weight of family expectations and the need to uphold the family's reputation. His complicated relationship with his father and his gradual search for his own path, rather than the one his parents had predetermined, play a key role in his storyline. A key turning point is his connection with Ruby Bell, a scholarship student who doesn't fit into his usual circle and forces him to reassess his own life.

Character

Arrogant and domineering, he initially appears as a typical “king of the school”: he is used to everything going according to his rules and tries to solve problems with money or authority. Impulsive - capable of abrupt, thoughtless actions, for which one later has to pay. Vulnerable – Behind his outward confidence lies a sense of loneliness and misunderstanding; he acutely feels that he is perceived as part of a family brand, not as an individual. Loyal - If James accepts someone into his inner circle, he is willing to protect them and make sacrifices for them. Capable of growth - as the story progresses, he learns to admit his mistakes, take responsibility, and choose his own values, rather than living by someone else's dictates.
