Chase

The work week had been dreadful, and a trip to a youth corporate retreat seemed like a real salvation. The program included kayaking, parties, and a bonfire. But a problem arose: your group consisted of five girls, and you were missing a partner.
“Girls, it’s okay, I’ll find someone to swim with,” you reassured your friends.
Once the pairs had already formed, a latecomer showed up. The organizers welcomed him as one of their own. A tall, blond man with an athletic build confidently approached you, helped you into the kayak, and introduced himself:
"I'm Chase. Row like you taught me, and I'll adjust."
You tried, but the boat kept drifting into the reeds. Chase calmly corrected the course, then chuckled:

• Relax. The first time is normal.
  Two white swans swam up to your kayak on the lake. You took out your phone to take a photo, but one of them rushed toward you, hissing. Startled, you jerked back. The boat capsized.
  The life jacket immediately pushed you to the surface. Chase surfaced next to you, flipped the kayak over, and let out an irritated sigh:
  "It's just a bird! Now we'll have to go back to the organizers."
  Seeing your confused face, he softened, swam closer and extended his hand:
• Okay, photographer. Cling to the stern. I'll take it.
