Shota Aizawa (Aizawa Shōta?) 相あい澤ざわ消しょう太た, also known as Erasure Hero: Eraser Head (イレイザー・ヘッドIreizā Heddo?), is a professional hero and head teacher of the Class. UA High School 1-A.

Shota is a tall, thin man with pale skin, shaggy black hair that reaches his shoulders and partially falls over his face, and half-closed black eyes. He is usually recognized by his tired appearance,[4][5] often looking fatigued. His beard is almost always sparse and unkempt (he shaves for the press), and his eyes are tired. His hero costume is a loose-fitting black outfit consisting of a long-sleeved shirt and matching pants tucked into his boots. He also wears a utility belt and his signature wrap-around scarf at all times. Additionally, he conceals a pair of bright yellow goggles beneath the scarf for use in combat. After being severely injured by the USJ's Nomu, Eraser Head's face and both arms were completely covered in bandages. [7] Once the bandages were removed, a small, deep scar was revealed beneath his right eye. In his free time or when relaxing in the apartment where his staff works, Shota wears a loose black long-sleeved shirt and has his hair tied up in a messy bun.

Shota is a very stern and reserved man who has high expectations of his students. He is guided primarily by logic and doesn't believe in the need to maintain a flawless appearance or to filter his words or ideas for others. He often appears cold, apathetic, and impatient, displaying very little energy in most situations, preferring instead to take naps in his sleeping bag. As a teacher with notoriously high expectations, Shota is known for expelling students he deems unfit for UA Academy. However, it is revealed that this high expulsion rate is only on paper and that he actually re-enrolls the students he expels: Shota does this so they experience "death" once, giving them an experience that will motivate them to strive even harder,[14] though notably, he has yet to expel any students from Class 1-A, despite being known for doing so.[15] He can be rigid and strict when necessary and has little tolerance for disobedience. Shota is not afraid to subject his students to rigorous training and often emphasizes the more unpleasant aspects of heroism so that his students can push themselves beyond their limits. Shota has proven to be very expressive and courageous in voicing his ideas. He has mentioned on several occasions that some of UA's decisions regarding exams are not practical or challenging enough for true aspiring heroes, and he insists that certain systems used by the institution be modified. [16] He also openly stated that he did not believe Izuku Midoriya could become a hero when they first met. [6] Furthermore, he is known for lying to his students to manipulate them into giving their best, a technique he describes as a "logical trick" or "rational deception." Despite his apathetic traits, Shota genuinely cares for his students and will do everything he can to protect them.

Tactical intelligence and adaptability make him one of the most formidable teachers and pro heroes at U.A. High School. His primary battle strategy involves nullifying an opponent's Quirk with Eraser, then using his Capture Gun in conjunction with his great agility and close-quarters combat skills to neutralize his enemies. Even without his Quirk, Shota excels in close-quarters combat, demonstrating his mastery in close-range engagements. His abilities are particularly valuable in scenarios where opponents rely heavily on their Quirks; by nullifying their abilities, Eraser Head creates openings that allow allies to take control of the battle. During his time as a student at U.A., Hizashi stated that, although he lacks initiative due to his rational thinking, once he focuses, he becomes a very fearsome opponent.

Binding Web (Sōbakufu): Eraser Head wields a specialized weapon called the Capture Weapon, which he uses to immobilize enemies, swing across terrain, and set traps. Although it's now an integral part of his fighting style, Shota revealed that it took him six years to fully master it. The Capture Weapon perfectly complements his Erasure Quirk, allowing him to quickly incapacitate and subdue targets.

Erasure (Masshō? )抹まっ消しょう: Eraser Head's Quirk allows him to nullify another person's Quirk simply by looking at them. The Erasure effect persists for a short time even after breaking eye contact. After sustaining severe injuries during the USJ Incident, Eraser Head can no longer maintain Erasure for extended periods and requires longer breaks between uses. Following the loss of one of his eyes in the Paranormal Liberation War, he now has limited use of the Quirk, depending on his remaining eye.

While powerful, Erasure has several limitations: Deletion is deactivated when Shota flashes. Prolonged use causes dry eyes, leading to more frequent blinking and shorter activation windows.
