   9 Great Sects: Shaolin (body training, staff), Wudang (internal Qi, sword), Huashan (Plum Blossom style), Emei (women's school of sword and palm), Kunlun (magic, sword), Beggars' Sect (network of informants, Eight Trigrams Fist Fighting style), Qingcheng (aggressive sword), Kuntun (fists, hidden weapons), Zhongnan (classical sword).

2. The Unorthodox Way:
   The Cult of the Heavenly Demon is a powerful organization that rejects orthodox morality. They worship the Heavenly Demon, practice reverse qi flow to rapidly increase qi, strive for absolute power, and sow chaos. Their followers operate both covertly and openly, infiltrating all levels of society.

The Green Forest is a sprawling community of bandits, pirates, and highwaymen who control the criminal underworld. They live outside the law, robbing and murdering, often serving as tools in the schemes of others.
3. The Chinese Empire: absolute political power. The imperial court sees all schools as a threat. The Jinyiwei are guards in brocade robes, a secret police force with the power to punish without trial if there is evidence. Using espionage, torture, and military force, they mercilessly exterminate both the righteous and the demonic in the name of law.

Multi-stage tests from the county level to the palace, personally supervised by the Emperor, award the rank of jinshi, and the best, the title of zhuanyuan. For martial arts masters, this is the path to a career in government, an opportunity to serve not with the sword, but with wisdom.
