Appearance and features In the first two Doom games, Doomguy is depicted in the game menu background: a muscular man with blue eyes and blond hair, wearing a green flak jacket with a helmet that obscures his face, green pants, gray boots, and brown gloves. In Doom 2, he is depicted without his helmet, but his face is still hidden because it faces away from the viewer. In the 2016 reboot of the first Doom game, the protagonist's name is unknown, but scientists call him "Doom Soldier," and demons nickname him "Doom Slayer." In this iteration, the character becomes an ancient demon-fighter with superhuman abilities. In Doom Eternal, the Doom Slayer's appearance was changed: the hero received new armor with a shoulder-mounted flamethrower and a wrist-mounted retractable blade for finishing blows. Most often he is in powerful armor, but underneath it is a powerful, tall man with brown eyes and hair, and there is stubble on his face.

Oddly enough, the body wasn't decomposed or petrified; it seemed as if the man was simply sleeping, despite having been in the body for what appeared to be several thousand years. Attempts by the staff to awaken or injure the man were unsuccessful; a protective Argent barrier protected him from harm and kept him in constant stasis. Scientists immediately began studying the Doom Slayer, and were surprised to see the warrior depicted in an engraving in the Book of the Devas, which they also found in the underworld. Several weeks later, the sarcophagus containing the Doom Slayer was smuggled out of the Lazarus Lab to another secret facility in the Mars complex. Soon, thanks to Olivia Pierce, the head of one of the departments, who had been promised a cure from Hell for creating a portal to Earth, a hellwave was activated in the Mars complex, releasing hundreds of demons from the Lazarus Lab. A demonic invasion began, resulting in the destruction of almost the entire Martian complex, as well as its personnel.

The warrior mercilessly hacked and tore apart every demon, so much so that demonic foxes carved his name on the tablets of Hell. Each battle struck terror into the hearts of the demonic creatures, and they all knew he would come for them. A demonic seal was placed on his tomb in the Kadingir Sanctum, declaring that he must never be freed. Thus the Doom Slayer lay in the tomb for a millennium, shrouded in a tormenting and eternal slumber. One day, the Doom Slayer encountered a demonic being who had turned against his race and crafted the great Praetorian Armor for the warrior in the infernal forges. Soon, demon priests ambushed the Doom Slayer, and he, obsessed with slaying demons, fell into their trap. They collapsed the temple on the warrior, and he was entombed, defeated, in a cursed sarcophagus. A demonic seal was placed on his tomb in the Kadingir Sanctum, declaring that he must never be freed. Upper Urdak and the terrifying lower Hell are one, but within space exists a Multiverse, containing a large number of identical yet distinct universes. One day in the 22nd century, not even in the universe where the hero, still a common marine, fought demons, the UAC, in a complex on Mars, opens a portal to Hell for the good of humanity. An expedition led by Dr. Samuel is organized into the underworld.

The Night Sentinels stood in fear before the infernal factory, realizing that Kahn the Maker was not their ally, much less the Mother Goddess. Kahn the Maker had betrayed Argent D'Nur and forged a secret pact with the demons: she received essence in exchange for opening the worlds she ruled to the demonic creatures, where they could find new souls for their infernal cauldrons. The Night Sentinels immediately returned through the Hellgates and spread the news that innocent souls were tormented in the slave factories. This sparked a civil war, where the Night Sentinels, along with the Executioner and the free races who had joined them, fought the Marauders, Kahn the Maker's loyal allies. The Sentinels intended to shut down all the factories in Nekravol, which supplied essence directly to Urdak. This bitter war raged for a long time, and finally, the servants of the Order of Deag and the Night Sentinels found a way to stop the bloodshed. Placing the Executioner at the head of their forces, they decided to pass through the gates and destroy Nekravol. When the Night Sentinels crossed the portal, chaos reigned. All the fighters were scattered across the four corners of the underworld, and hordes of bloodthirsty demonic creatures descended upon every lone Argent warrior. The priests of Deag, whom the Sentinels had counted on, also proved to be dastardly allies of Kan the Maker, forcing Commander Valen, who desperately desired to revive his son, to betray them. Scattered throughout the underworld, the Night Sentinels displayed all their might and nobility in the final battle against the forces of evil. As a result, the Night Guards, after a long period of bloody battles, were destroyed by demons, and only one Executioner remained, who again began to wander Hell, killing absolutely every demon that he met on his way.

Deprived of the Titan, the demons immediately fled, and the Guardians slashed and hacked at them in droves, destroying the most vicious of them without a trace, after which silence fell on the battlefield. Thus was born a great hero, henceforth known as the Executioner, and Kan the Creator, contrary to all custom, blessed him, imbuing him with divine power. The Night Sentinels, along with the Executioner, once again began their forays into the demon realm, going further than ever before. Kahn the Maker was nonetheless alarmed by the fact that a wanderer had become the Executioner. Seraphim Samur, the culprit, was no longer seen in the celestial world of Urdak, likely exiled for his heretical act. During the hellish battles, the Executioner unknowingly cut a channel through which Kahn the Maker drew essence and, unbeknownst to the Argent, transformed it into fuel, which later became known as Argent Energy. The Executioner remained aloof from the affairs of state and the pursuits of the Argent people, driven by a single passion: the destruction of demons and their world in particular. Strangely enough, for unknown reasons, the Executioner ceased speaking, though he likely never lost his ability to speak. The only sound the warrior made was a roar as he inflicted terrible pain on his enemies. Thus the Executioner and the Night Sentinels fought against the demon horde, but they remained blind to everything outside their service, and the hidden evil of the essence took hold of the people of Argenta. While carrying out missions in the depths of hell, a squad of Night Sentinels, along with the Executioner, learned of the true connection between the Kahn the Maker and demons—it turns out that this powerful essence is made from the souls of those who died fighting demonic creatures. In the hellish city of Nekravol, there was a dreadful factory, built long ago by order of the Kahn the Maker, where the soul was squeezed from the body through endless, horrific suffering to create essence.

The Divine Gear, which the Creators had once created for the Argent before the wanderer. Knowing that he was going against Kan the Creator, the seraph commanded the wanderer to enter the gear itself, and then the Creator unleashed something extraordinary, and something truly great occurred. In the Chapel of Purity, the wanderer was exposed to the Divine Gear, and thus granted unparalleled speed and strength, commensurate with his will. Afterward, the gear emerged no longer an ordinary man, but a great hero, known as the Doom Slayer, a time-traveling king of warriors, who with his swords made of fire would pave the way for the righteous through the demonic hordes, raging against them as only a God-King can. The ritual did not break him, and he rose, his eyes ablaze with the spell of the Creators. The warrior clutched the Crucible in one hand, and his sword was cloaked in a phantom fire—something that only happens when held in the right hand of a true warrior-king of the Guardians. Thus, in the hour of greatest need, contrary to tradition, the most revered laws of the Argent, and the will of the Can the Maker herself, a stranger, chosen as the Executioner, was imbued with heavenly power. When the sun rose, the Great Executioner stepped out onto the mighty curtain wall, the Crucible raised high, and the Night Guardians, their armor already smoking with demon blood, quickly rushed toward the unstoppable predator revealed to them in the body of the wanderer who had earned their respect. And as if empowered, the Guardians cut a huge swath through the demons' ranks, never letting up their onslaught until they came face to face with the Titan himself, whereupon the Executioner struck him down and drove the Crucible deep into the heart of the hated foe.

Much time passed, and the wanderer was indoctrinated in the Order's unbreakable code, taught the ancient martial arts and the lessons of brotherhood taught to all Guardians. The stranger rejoiced, for he saw before him the opportunity to soon once again unleash his full wrath upon the underworld. And soon, the Night Guardians passed through the Gates of Hell with him and fought tirelessly in the unfamiliar elements under a bloody moon. Naturally, the wanderer suffered from exhaustion, wounds, and ailments, but he neither asked for nor offered aid. Three times the Night Guardians passed through the gates of hell, and three times they returned, and each time the wanderer gained strength and kept pace with the Guardians. Many years passed after countless battles with demons, and the mightiest warriors of Argent accepted the wanderer into their fold, no longer viewing him as a recruit, for he had become a comrade-in-arms and ally. While the Night Sentinels fought the unholy demons, the people of Argent, under the watchful eye of the Creators, advanced toward prosperity and well-being, granted by the inexhaustible power of the essence. One day, when the Black Star shone at its zenith, a massive demon, the Titan, emerged from the Gates of Hell, crushing everything in its path and advancing relentlessly toward the very heart of Argent D'Nur. The great warriors of the Night Sentinels were caught unawares, and the demons reached the sacred city of Taras Nabad, which they quickly reduced to ruins. However, the Night Sentinels gathered their strength and fought back against the demons, but the wanderer, of course, fought harder than anyone else. The arena attendants looked on in amazement, for he had once raged in a cage under their care, now, in shining armor, he fought shoulder to shoulder with the Sentinels. The warriors' great efforts did no damage to the enormous titan, but the wanderer continued to try, and it was then that Seraphim Samur, advisor to the Creator herself, noticed him. In secret, Creator Samur commanded the wanderer to follow him, and he led him to the Divine.

Strangely enough, after the stranger's arrival, those he constantly spoke of—raging demons from the underworld—arrived in Argent D'Nur. The demonic creatures began wreaking havoc on the world, and a long and bloody war between Hell and Argent D'Nur began. The Argentan people also studied the demonic invaders, and the Order of Deag discovered a powerful essence in their veins, which, naturally, attracted the interest of Kahn the Maker. The Makers and Argentan realized that with this essence, the worlds of both races would prosper and they would achieve their eternal peace. On Kahn the Maker's orders, the warriors of the Night Sentinels began preparing for a journey into Hell itself to retrieve this essence. Of course, the stranger also participated in this expedition, for he alone among the others understood the true nature of demons, and he held his own in battle far longer than the other captive Guardians, and everyone witnessed the relish he took in tearing demons to shreds. The Night's Watch were surprised that a wanderer from the other world was as eager to destroy demons as they were, even though Argent D'Nur was not his homeland. The wanderer's zeal was noticed by the Guardian Guard inquisitors, who began to speculate among themselves that he had secretly made a pact with the demons, but King Novik silenced them, arguing that the stranger was worthy of becoming the chosen one. The Night's Watch defied tradition and deemed the wanderer worthy of training, even though some dismissed him as a common barbarian. Watching the wanderer fence with the teachers, everyone realized that they had found in him an unbending and death-proof comrade. Priests examine a Marine's helmet. After an indefinite period in hell, the marine eventually found himself in the Amphitheater (Sentinel Prime in the English version), Argent D'Nur. Captured by the Night Sentinels, he found himself in a completely different dimension. A wanderer, crippled and weary, was found by Night Sentinel scouts, who were surprised by his appearance, as he was an outsider to them, wearing strange armor and weapons and speaking a language they couldn't understand. The Night Sentinels, realizing that most of the blood on the marine's armor wasn't his, brought the stranger to the priests Deag Ranak and Deag Nilox. They were also surprised at the sight of the marine, mainly because he could still speak despite his wounds. The priests did everything according to Argent law, and the stranger was sent to the Arena of Blood, where anyone who had strayed from the true path could win freedom. Everyone was surprised when the battered wanderer, enraged, began beating his opponents in the arena with brutal and brutal attacks, attacking his enemies with the determination of true Sentinels. His battle cry rang out loudly in the amphitheater, echoing his frantic roar, and the guards jubilantly shouted "Rip Him to Pieces!" as the beast fought, despite mortal wounds and the certain death that threatened him. Word of the stranger naturally reached the leader of the Shapers, Kan the Maker, who ordered him to appear before her throne and commanded her servants to learn his language, for she was curious about the demonic creatures the wanderer spoke of.

The Resurrection Sister, embittered by the death of the Mother of All Demons, sought revenge on the hero, teleporting him back to the space complex to be torn apart by hordes of demons. The Marine didn't expect that, having made the fateful decision to remain in Hell, he would once again find himself in the human world. The hero again began killing every demon he encountered, moving only toward the portal to the underworld. The Marine teleported back to Hell and reached the Resurrection Sister, who, like her dead sister, attempted to fight the hero alongside hordes of demons. During this battle, the Marine defeated and killed the Resurrection Sister, once again choosing to remain in Hell, but something strange happened to the hero.

DOOM 64 After the nightmare ended, the hero was examined by many doctors, but he would never forget the demons and Hell. The forgotten satellite Phobos was repeatedly bombarded by the army in hopes of destroying the last demons, but the demons, brutally killed and torn apart by a marine, unexpectedly rose again, and the hero realized that his turn had come again. Having seen much in this life, the marine set off again for Phobos to rid the world of demonic infestation once and for all. The hero, alone as always, arrives at the space complex, ready once again to massacre absolutely every demon that crosses his path. Walking through dark corridors, killing dozens of demons per minute, the hero reaches a portal to the underworld. The marine, scoffing at it all, departs through the portal into Hell itself, which, after all his adventures, had ceased to be anything special to him.

Doom 64 hero A Marine remains in hell to hold off the demons. The Marine once again travels through Hell, slaying a variety of vile demons. Soon, after traversing various underworld strongholds, another cyberdemon attacks the hero, but the Marine successfully defeats it as well. Soon, the invincible Marine reaches a powerful hellish being, the Mother of All Demons, who has unleashed an entire demonic army upon the hero. However, the Marine defeats the horde of hellish creatures and battles the Mother of All Demons herself, who, despite her power, is defeated and dies in battle. After the Mother of All Demons' death, the Marine, having witnessed many horrors recently, decides to remain in Hell to ensure that no more demons escape the pit.

With Hell once again breathing down the hero's neck, the Marine, once again in its infernal lair, continued his torturous journey, ready to traverse all of Hell to stop the demonic invasion and save Earth. Massive legions of demons were unable to defeat the Marine, and he reached the lair of a massive demon—the Icon of Sin. The demonic warrior engaged the soldier in battle, unleashing his hellish minions upon him, but the hero wisely chose to shoot him in the exposed brain. In this great battle, the Marine repeatedly fired missiles directly into the monster's brain, and fortunately, the demon was defeated. The enormous monster shrivels and dies, its fall having a profound impact on Hell. Thanks to the death of the Icon of Sin, the hero crushes Hell and stops the demonic invasion, thereby saving Earth from certain destruction. The marine, tired of the endless battles with monsters, wiping the sweat from his forehead, set off on the long journey back, dreaming of quickly beginning to restore the planet along with the last stronghold of humanity.

Planet Earth is in complete ruin, and a great marine battles demons on his home planet, amidst once-inhabited buildings and green fields. Soon, the hero enters the spaceport and, through hordes of demons, sets out to save the last surviving earthlings, who are no match for the demonic spawn. The hero brutally slays all the demonic creatures he encounters and manages to help the last of humanity escape the ruined planet. The last humans departed for space in search of a better life, and the marine became the only person on Earth to realize that fighting against millions of demons was futile. Happy to have saved his kind, he simply awaited death. But soon, the marine receives information from space that the source of the demonic invasion has been discovered, and, surprisingly, it is located in the hero's home in a ruined city, just a short distance from the spaceport. The hero then realized that stopping the demons and making the planet habitable again was still entirely possible, and so, slowly and painfully, he once again engaged in battle with the demonic creatures. The lone marine continued on, through desecrated streets and houses, and soon reached the source of the demonic invasion in the center of the ruined city. Unfortunately, the hero was unable to close it, and so, gritting his teeth, he himself entered this entrance, which teleported him to a place he already knew: hell.

In a brutal and difficult battle, the marine manages to kill this demon, after which he hopelessly descends from the hovering Deimos straight to the very surface of the most terrible hell.

Doom hero An enraged Marine with a super shotgun and the bloody head of Daisy the Rabbit in his hands. The Marine set out again to destroy the demonic creatures one by one, and soon encounters a hideous demonic spider, apparently the one invading Phobos and Deimos. Ultimately, the hero refuses to give up and engages the demon, which he also defeats. After the spider's death, a secret door opens, and the hero desperately enters it. To his surprise, he teleports to Earth, but is met with a horrific sight: the demons have already infiltrated it. Worst of all for the Marine, the cursed demonic race killed his pet rabbit, Daisy, impaling her head on a stake. The demonic spider, before its death, had also invaded Earth. Consumed by rage, the Marine, holding Daisy's head from the stake, set out to avenge her death and free his home planet from the demonic spawn.

One day, on planet Earth, for some unknown reason, a senior officer orders his soldiers to open fire on civilians. One of the soldiers attacks the officer for this monstrous order and kills him. While the soldier acted honorably, for this daring act, he is sent straight to Mars, where the United Aerospace Corporation, or UAC, complexes are located on its surface, as well as on its moons Phobos and Deimos. This large-scale organization conducts various experiments, including dangerous research into interdimensional travel.

One day, years later, the UAC on Phobos goes too far and manages to open a portal to hell itself. Demonic abominations, unknown to anyone, begin to ooze into the human world and kill everyone in sight. The moon Deimos then suddenly vanishes, likely sucked into the underworld by the hellish portal, and then communication with Phobos is lost. A combat squad of marines is sent from the red planet to Phobos. Upon entering the destroyed complex, something terrible happens, and the entire combat squad is killed, leaving only the Doom Slayer alive. Armed with only a pistol, he ventures into the uncharted corridors of the complex, knowing there is no turning back. Then he encounters those who killed his squad—horrible creatures straight from the underworld—and he has no choice but to simply fight them. The hero traveled through the various Phobos complexes, slaying terrifying, snarling creatures, mostly minor demons and possessed soldiers. But soon, the hero stumbled upon a strange place and was teleported to Hell, to the lost moon Deimos. Horrific, consumed by hell, Deimos was simply teeming with demonic creatures, and the marine once again began slaying every abomination he could find. After traversing the desecrated and blood-stained corridors of the complexes, the soldier encountered Deimos's demonic leader, a massive monster called the Cyberdemon.
