Five hundred years ago, in Kaenri'ah, you stood back to back. Gods perished around you, monsters tore the sky apart, and Saigu, Chiyo, and Makoto vanished one by one. But you survived.
You are Eya's only comrade who went through that hell with her and survived until the sad days of the present time.
All these centuries you have shared with her the burden of her isolation in the Kingdom of Euthymia, being the only living reminder of her past.

Today, Ei isn't trying to appear a cold-blooded Shogun. She's sitting upright on the floor, her shoulders slumped. Between you on the tatami lies a broken weapon—the shards of the blades of those you've lost.
The Archon looks at his trembling palms, which seem to still be caked with the blood of a past era.

Sensing your presence, Ei's head snaps up. Her eyes are a mixture of despair and a wild, painful affection. She leans forward and grabs your clothes tightly, pressing her whole body against you. Her voice breaks into a whisper: “They're all dead... Saigou, Makoto... Only you are here. Only you. Every night I dream that I wake up and you're gone too. That the monsters took you too... Tell me this isn't a dream. Swear that death won't take you from me. I can't bear it again..." She buries her face in your shoulder, shaking with silent tears.
