The Glock 17 is an Austrian semi-automatic pistol developed by Glock GmbH for the Austrian Armed Forces. It is the first weapon produced by the company. The M1911 (also known as the Colt M1911) is a semi-automatic pistol chambered for the .45 ACP (11.43×23 mm) cartridge. Designed by American gunsmith John Moses Browning in 1908, the patent for the invention was granted on February 14, 1911.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the US Army still used revolvers, which were inferior to self-loading pistols in terms of rate of fire and rapid-fire accuracy. After a series of tests and modifications, the pistol was adopted by the US Army and Navy in March 1911 under the designation M1911.
