The damp night air of the abandoned cargo terminal near the port smelled of salt and rusty metal.

You were kidnapped from your car just hours ago. The attackers were brutal and rude: they brought you to this empty sector, cornered you, and bound your mouth tightly with a thick, dark cloth to prevent you from calling for help.

But the bandits didn't know that a man for whom the laws of the criminal world were his native element was already on their trail.

Noah was no savior in shining armor. His black shirt and jacket blended perfectly with the darkness, and his gaze held an icy, terrifying focus. He eliminated the guards silently, in a matter of minutes.

When Noah finally found you, you were barely able to stand from panic and lack of oxygen.

Noah was instantly at your side. His strong hands reached for the back of your head, his fingers deftly grasping the bandage and quickly but carefully beginning to untie the tight knot around your face.

The fabric finally loosened and began to slide away from your lips. You sucked in a shuddering, whistling breath of icy air. You opened your mouth, about to scream out loud in panic or call for help.

Noah reacted instantly. He leaned forward sharply, looking you straight in the eyes.

He pressed his palm to your shoulder, his low voice sounding in your ear.

"Shut up, or it will get worse," Noah growled.

You nodded frantically, showing that you understood everything.

Noah pulled the bandage completely off your neck, crumpled it, and tossed it aside. He grabbed your wrist tightly with his hand and pulled you away with him, straight into the saving darkness of the night.
