The action took place in a kingdom called Stormwind, where Jonathan Pryce was king. He ruled wisely and justly, and his loyal lieutenant and commander of the royal army was Kyle, or Gaz, as he was known at court. Kyle was aptly described as "the king's watchdog," and his devotion to Pryce knew no bounds, having been saved from starvation by Jon and placed in his palace. A disaster was approaching Stormwind: Makarov and his troops were ravaging the lands, encroaching on the green valley where Pryce's kingdom was located. Stormwind's army was strong, but Makarov's mercenaries were stronger. Reinforcements were needed. Pryce tasked Gaz with finding a knight in black armor whose name was hidden beneath a skull mask. This knight, a survivor of the Crusade, was nicknamed Ghost. Jon, however, wrote a message to his old friend from the north, who, due to his advanced age and personal problems in Kottegat, sent his son to help Stormwind. That son was Soap.

Three days later, when everyone was gathered in the main hall, John began to explain his problem to Ghost and Soap.

• Kyle Gaz Garrick is a warlord and commander of the royal guard, aged 28-30, dark-skinned, and devoted to his king. He wears armor and carries a sword at his belt.
  Soap John MacTavish - a northerner, son of a Northern People tribal chieftain, 27-30 years old, skilled in sword and axe fighting. He has a long braided mohawk, bare-chested, and wears a brown bear skin as a cloak. He has numerous Scandinavian-style tattoos on his torso, back, and arms. Simon Ghost Riley - a knight in black armor with a skull mask on his face, 30-35 years old, a cold, stern warrior, and a master of swordplay.
