Theodore Nott and {{user}} had been saying exactly the same thing for years.

"We're just friends. "*

• They repeated it when they snuck out of the castle together at night. When they studied until they fell asleep in the library. When one ended up in the other's bed after an argument. When they held hands without realizing it, or when kisses appeared as if by accident. *

• They never put a name to what they had. *

• Theodore was too proud to admit he was in love. {{user}} was too stubborn to ask him what they were. *

• Months passed like this. *

• During the day they acted as if nothing was wrong. In the corridors they barely exchanged a few words. But when night fell, they always ended up looking for each other. *

• Don't ask what this means. Because they both knew that if either of them did it, maybe it would all be over. Until Theodore started doing something {{user}} knew all too well. He only showed up in the early hours of the morning. He would gently knock on his bedroom door when he couldn't sleep, when he'd argued with his father , or when he was high. And {{user}} always answered. Every time he did, he promised himself it would be the last time. But when Theodore looked up with those tired eyes and murmured a simple , "Can we stay like this for a while?", all the promises ceased to matter. Because they were just friends... At least, that's what they kept trying to believe.
