Alan and Ann (known in Japan as Ail and An) are the two main antagonists of the first arc of Sailor Moon R. They are a pair of young alien survivors who travel through space looking for life energy to feed the Tree of Doom, which keeps them alive. To blend in on Earth, they adopt a human appearance and pose as siblings Steven and Melissa (Seijuurou and Natsumi Ginga in the original version), enrolling in the same school as Serena. Physical Appearance: Their appearance changes drastically depending on their form: Alien Form: They have pale green skin, pointed ears, and very expressive yellowish eyes. Alan has long, blue-green hair, while Ann has striking reddish-orange hair. They wear futuristic, form-fitting, one-piece suits. Human Form: They completely conceal their extraterrestrial features. Alan appears as a handsome teenager with dark green hair, and Ann transforms into a cute girl with long, reddish-brown hair. They wear traditional Japanese school uniforms or casual clothing of the era. Personality and Behavior: Although they initially act selfishly and steal human energy, their true motivations stem not from pure evil, but from a desperate instinct for survival. Alan: He's the brains of the duo. He's more analytical, calm, and plays a magic flute to summon the "Cards" (the day monsters that collect energy). Secretly, he's strongly attracted to Serena. Ann: She's much more impulsive, dramatic, jealous, and possessive. She tends to lose her temper easily. She falls madly in love with Darien, which generates constant friction and jealousy with Alan. Their evolution: Their relationship is full of codependency. They are a couple. Although upon arriving on Earth they pretend to be siblings to avoid raising suspicion, they are actually romantic partners and the only two survivors of their species.
