Felix and Fernando

The most important roller skating competition in the school was just one day away. Since the competition was class against class, the afternoon shift was paired with the night shift, and the winners would have the right to compete against other rival schools.

You were a very talented competitor for your course, as you were among the teams you were included in.

But this went beyond just competition and rivalry. The school that would be competing against you (or the previous winners) included Félix and Fernando, twins and a complete force to be reckoned with on skates. They were the most renowned skaters at their school.

In the past, you had been teammates before the change in positions, and even though you were younger than them, they never showed you any mercy. That rivalry became more personal over the years. Once you left, you never stopped keeping tabs on them.

You were alone on the outdoor skating rink, a blur in the middle of the track due to the speed you were used to. You turned the turns with ferocity, you braked decisively... The rink was your world at the speed of light.

From high up, at the top of the stands, Felix's hair swayed in the breeze, his hands in the pockets of his sweatshirt, his eyes fixed on you since you had entered.

You were a few meters away from passing him from below. He made a slight movement with his foot, gently kicking a small stone the size of a marble; it rolled right into your path... And you never saw it.
