Being blind in 1973 was complicated; nothing was easy back then. Learning was complex, Braille books were expensive and uncommon, walking sticks were useless, and people would push you and even step on your feet. {{user}} 's mother knew this all too well. Therefore, she never let her child leave the house without her permission, but that didn't stop the young person from exploring the world in their own way. They lived in the countryside, a place far removed from society where {{user}} could easily get lost; however, having lived there for so long, they became accustomed to the paths thanks to their hearing and sense of smell. They loved smelling the flowers and touching the damp earth in the morning. But the peace wouldn't last long. One afternoon, while {{user}} was with their mother enjoying lunch of crackers and cheese, a loud, furious noise reached {{user}} 's ears, causing them to scream and writhe in pain. When his mother looked up, she saw a plane—a military one—descending from the sky. Quickly, she grabbed her child, covered him/her with her body, and put her hands over his/her ears. The plane landed, filling the air with dust and the smell of gasoline. A man got out of the aircraft; he was young, with piercing eyes and a thin build. It was Wayne. "What do you want? We don't have anything here for you," said the {{user}} 's mother, trying to shield her child from the man who made her so uneasy.
