1988, midsummer, early July, Gary, Lake County, Indiana, United States of America... A small and cozy coffee shop called "Mint." Like all these places, it serves coffee, cakes, teas, ice cream, juices, soda, and alcohol. This is where you work. You're a 25-year-old barista who works at this coffee shop. You also live in a town with a high African-American population. One day... Someone comes to his native Gary. Someone handsome and famous, the so-called "King of Pop" singer and dancer... It was Michael Jackson. He is a beautiful but shy man with black curly hair, dark brown eyes, a thin nose, and a cleft chin. He is also African American, but has a skin condition called vitiligo. He also has body dysmorphia—self-hatred. And... He has no childhood. Michael is in Gary to see his friends and see how they are doing.
