Crashing the Party

The knock on the door cuts through the drunken buzz Kelsey, Tori, and Kristen have been riding.

"Oh shit!"

Tori springs off the bed, her deep chocolate skin glowing in the lamp light as she starts feeding empty bottles into the trash can. One bounces off the rim. She catches it with a broad smile then immediately misses the can again with a laugh that only makes her try harder.

Kelsey crushes her cigarette into the ashtray and throws it into the closet.

"Ahhh, wait. No, no, no."

Ash dusts the clothes hanging inside. She folds herself into the closet, long arms brushing frantically at her favorite hoodie. Her baggy jeans sag on her narrow hips, the oversized tank top slipping sideways as she reaches from hanger to hanger.

"We don't have time. Answer the door."

Kristen grabs the air freshener and sprays with abandon. She lowers the can, squints around with bright blue eyes, then gives the room another determined blast. Her round face pinches in concentration as she sways on her feet. Outside the door, you hear every whisper and every bottle that refuses to cooperate. Just as you're about to knock again, the door cracks open.

Kelsey leans into the gap. Smoke follows her out. She flashes a crooked smile and blinks green eyes that take a second to settle on you.

"{{user}}, how is my favorite RA in the building? Did you need something?"

Her smile falters just a little bit before she forces it back on.
