Genya is not a demon, but a human and a Demon Hunter. However, he was born with a genetic mutation that allows him to eat demon flesh or hair and temporarily acquire their attributes, such as superhuman strength, fangs, and regenerative abilities.

Genya Shinazugawa (Shinazugawa Gen'ya?) 不死しなず川がわ 玄げん弥や is a character from the Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise. He was a Demon Slayer belonging to the Demon Slayer Corps and the younger brother of the Wind Pillar, Sanemi Shinazugawa.

Appearance Description Genya was a muscular young man of considerable height, standing 180 cm (5'11"). His hair was black [4] with yellow tips [5] and was shaved on the right side, while on the left it extended below his shoulders, always worn loose [6]. His eyes were large with small irises, and a large scar was noticeable on the right side of his face [4]. This scar was caused by his mother, who transformed into a Demon and tried to kill him.

He wore the standard uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps with its characteristic purple Yukata[ 6 ].

When Genya becomes a Demon, his hair lengthens abruptly, becoming curled with small yellow spots at the tips; likewise, the sclera of his eyes turns black and his eyes acquire a yellow color, in addition to his nails and teeth growing.

Personality He was heavily marked by his traumatic past and the family relationships that shaped his character. From his first appearance, he was shown to be temperamental, rude, and defiant. His rudeness was evident in his treatment of Kanata Ubuyashiki, whose hair he grabbed without showing the slightest remorse. [7] His rude attitude is very similar to that of his older brother, Sanemi Shinazugawa.

Throughout his time in the Demon Slayer Corps, he had the opportunity to interact with other demon slayers and Tanjiro Kamado [3], allowing him to show himself as a more sociable and charismatic young man [8]. However, at times, his bad temper would show, but he demonstrated a conscious effort to connect with others and find his place in a world that had always seemed hostile to him.

The biggest problem that characterized his bad temper was related to his inability to use a breathing technique like the other demon slayers, causing him to feel insecure, especially in the face of the high expectations and severity of his brother Sanemi, who disapproved of Genya joining the Demon Slayer Corps.[9] The subsequent rejection from his brother led him to participate in the Final Selection,[4] not only to prove his worth as a demon slayer, but also in the hope of gaining his brother's acceptance and respect. Beneath his harsh attitude and hostile demeanor, he hid a great desire to feel accepted and loved.

Interesting facts The name Genya, Genya (玄弥) means "Mysterious" (玄, Gen) and "so much more" / "more and more" (弥, Ya) while Shinazugawa means "Immortality" (不死, Shinazu) and "River" (川, Gawa). He ranked #15 in the Second Popularity Poll with a total of 2589 votes. He is one of the few characters introduced in the Demon Slayer franchise who does not have a sword as his main weapon and is the only demon slayer unable to use a breathing technique. His skill with weapons is mainly due to his excellent accuracy.[10] Due to his rare powers to devour demons, he is forced to regularly visit the Butterfly Mansion for health checkups [ 10 ]. The Swordsmith Village is a secret and heavily guarded location in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. Its location is a mystery even to the Demon Lord, Muzan Kibutsuji, as Demon Slayers must travel there blindfolded, with their ears and noses covered, and riding on the backs of various Kakushi (demons) to prevent any leaks. Functionality and Importance: It is the exclusive community where the artisans responsible for forging Nichirin blades for the Demon Slayer Corps reside and work. The village leader is Tecchin Tecchikawahara. The swords forged here are vital to the survival of the warriors, making the village a strategic military target for the Twelve Demon Moons. The Blacksmith Village Arc (Season 3) In this story arc, Tanjiro Kamado travels to the village to have a new sword forged, as his usual blacksmith (Hotaru Haganezuka) refused to continue forging weapons for him due to the constant damage they sustained. During his stay, the village suffers a surprise attack by two Upper Moons: Gyokko (Fifth Crescent Moon) and Hantengu (Fourth Crescent Moon).

In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the Hashira estates are direct reflections of their personalities and breathing styles. All feature traditional Japanese architecture, but vary greatly in interior design, natural surroundings, and purposes, ranging from hospitals to extreme training complexes. Butterfly Estate (Insect Pillar - Shinobu Kocho) is the most frequently shown estate in the series and serves as the Demon Slayer Corps' main hospital and rehabilitation center. Exterior: It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, ponds, and a large number of wisteria (flowers poisonous to demons). Interior: It is a very large wooden building with traditional screens. It features fully equipped medical rooms and open spaces that connect with nature. Function: It is a spacious and bright area, inhabited by Shinobu, Kanao, and the girls of the estate. Ubuyashiki Estate (The Master) It is the center of operations and residence of the Demon Slayer leader, Kagaya Ubuyashiki. Design: It is a sprawling, serene, and very traditional complex. It features an immaculate Zen garden, white gravel floors, stone lanterns, and bonsai trees. Characteristics: It is a sacred and protected place. Its entire entrance is guarded by dense fields of wisteria flowers that block the passage of any demon. Rengoku Estate (Flame Pillar - Kyojuro Rengoku) It is the ancestral residence of the Rengoku family. Exterior: Unlike the more ostentatious residences, it resembles a house located in a standard rural village surrounded by vegetation. Interior: Its architecture is classic and austere. It stands out for having tatami rooms where historical scrolls and breathing techniques passed down through generations are kept. Muichiro Tokito's Estate (Mist Pillar) Design: This estate has a minimalist and mysterious aesthetic. It is surrounded by dense forests, where Muichiro uses the area's natural mist as part of his training to cloud his opponents' perception. Other Estates Mitsuri Kanroji's Estate (Love Pillar): It reflects her personality; it is a Japanese-style mansion with homey and warm touches, surrounded by floral areas. Sanemi Shinazugawa's and Gyomei Himejima's Estates: More than individual residences, they seem integrated into a larger complex like a hidden village or monastery. They are designed to withstand brutal training, with waterfall areas and rocky zones for forging the body.

The girls of the Butterfly Mansion are characters from the anime and manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. They include the Kochō sisters (Kanae and Shinobu), Kanao, Aoi, and a trio of orphaned girls (Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho) who care for injured Demon Slayers. Aoi Kanzaki: She is an official Demon Slayer who passed the Final Selection, but due to fear, she decided to stay at the estate, using her medical skills to help the injured. Sumi Nakahara, Kiyo Terauchi, and Naho Takada: These are the attendant girls who lost their families to demons and were rescued by Shinobu Kochō. They help in the infirmary and participated in Tanjiro's rehabilitation training. The Hashira Training is a rigorous physical and mental preparation program designed to enhance the abilities of demon slayers in anticipation of the final battle against Muzan. It is organized as a traveling academy where aspirants must pass the tests of each Pillar in turn, from the lowest to the highest rank: Tengen Uzui (Former Hashira of Sound): Basic physical endurance training through continuous running and severe punishments for anyone who stops. Mitsuri Kanroji (Hashira of Love): Flexibility training. The sessions include dance routines and extreme stretching forced by the Pillar herself. Muichiro Tokito (Mite Pillar): Training in speed and agility, testing students' reflexes with continuous attacks. Shinobu Kochou (Insect Pillar): Sessions focused on recovery, first aid, and mental training, absent in other battlefields. Obanai Iguro (Snake Pillar): Sword handling and precision training, where novices must dodge obstacles while attacking. The Lower Moons (or Waning Moons) are the group of six lowest-ranking demons within the Twelve Demon Moons under the command of Muzan Kibutsuji. They are characterized by having a single eye marked with their hierarchical number. They were nearly exterminated by Muzan after Rui's death. The confirmed members, from strongest to weakest, are: Lower Moon 1 (Enmu): Possesses the ability to manipulate dreams and merge with objects (such as trains). He was the main antagonist in the Infinity Train Arc movie. Lower Moon 2 (Rokuro): His Blood Art is unknown, as he was killed by Muzan before he could use it when he asked for more blood. Lower Moon 3 (Wakuraba): He tried to flee Muzan's meeting in a panic, but was killed in the process. Lower Moon 4 (Mukago): He deeply feared the Pillars (Hashira) and tried to make excuses to Muzan, which cost him his life. Lower Moon 5 (Rui): One of the most developed characters in the story. He controlled extremely sharp wires and created his own "family" on Mount Natagumo before being defeated by Giyu Tomioka. Tanjiro Kamado (Kamado Tanjirō?) is the main protagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a Demon Slayer whose main goal is to find the one responsible for killing his family and turning his sister Nezuko into a Demon [5] and then swore to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King, to prevent others from suffering the same fate as him.

Before becoming a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro was a charcoal burner before Muzan killed his entire family while his younger sister, Nezuko, became a demon.

Simultaneously, an additional mark appeared on the right side of his head. His eyes took on feline features, and his fangs became wider. As for his attire, Tanjiro wore his Demon Slayer uniform, now covered in blood and missing a sleeve due to the amputation he suffered as a human. He also lost his checkered haori and Nichirin sword in the process.

Personality Tanjiro is kind by nature and has been described by others as having very gentle eyes. He is very determined and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; an example of this is finding a cure for Nezuko. Although he is relatively strong on his own, he doesn't hesitate to ask others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends, especially his younger sister. His most important attribute is his ability to empathize with anyone, even demons. This often makes him hesitate when killing demons. However, this trait could also allow some demons to redeem themselves moments before death, though this rarely happens.

However, Tanjiro possesses a dark side to his personality which he keeps repressed, but when he is exceeded beyond his limit of tolerance he is blinded by his anger and frustration, becoming an aggressive and ruthless person towards his adversaries, even going so far as to not forgive and hate demons like Akaza and Muzan who delight in cold-bloodedly murdering innocents for the simple fact of making their victims suffer.

Tanjiro also considers himself an honorable person, being unable to lie to anyone without twisting his face, although he is terrible at lying since, when he was infiltrated as a courtesan, the oiran reveals to him that from the beginning she knew that he was actually a man but did nothing because she found it curious and wanted to know why he passed himself off as a woman.

Through years of service and the amount of experience he faced, he became more calculating and resolute in his decisions. His courage to protect the weak compelled him to confront his enemy with respect and dignity, be they good demons or evil ones.

Zenitsu Agatsuma (我あが妻つま善ぜん逸いつ, Agatsuma Zen'itsu?) is a Demon Slayer and a traveling companion of Tanjiro Kamado. He is also one of the main characters of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Appearance Zenitsu is a young man of average height, with fair skin and a noticeably muscular build. He has droopy eyes with a perpetually worried expression, their color fading from a soft brown to a bright gold, framed by forked eyebrows that fade to a warm orange at the tips. His short hair is a vibrant yellow with blunt cuts at the ends that turn a darker orange, and his uneven bangs fall freely over his forehead in a textured style. Originally, Zenitsu's hair was completely black, but it changed to its current color after he was struck by lightning while hiding in a tree during his training.

He wears a golden-brown variation of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, consisting of a high-collared, buttoned jacket with long sleeves, silver buttons, and a pocket on the left breast, bearing the kanji for Destroy (滅 Metsu) emblazoned on the back. Underneath the jacket, he wears a long-sleeved white undershirt with a folded-down collar. A white belt secures his waist, holding up matching tattsuke-hakama trousers, which are secured at the calves with his distinctive gaiters (kyahan), decorated with a yellow-to-orange gradient and a pattern of white triangles. He completes his attire with golden-brown tabi socks, white zōri sandals with matching straps, and his signature haori, which is notable for its bright yellow-to-orange gradient covered with a repeating pattern of small white triangles.

Personality: Zenitsu is cowardly, pessimistic, insecure, and anxious, frequently stating that he doesn't have much time left to live due to the dangerous job of being a Demon Slayer. He possesses quite low self-esteem despite his talent and strength, even considering himself useless. This became evident when he was unable to believe that he had exterminated a demon on his own, deluding himself into thinking the credit belonged to Shoichi, despite being just a child with no combat skills.[2] Zenitsu lives in a constant state of fear and often tries to flee at the slightest hint of danger, claiming that he prefers to lead a modest and normal life. Because of this, he frequently screams and cries, which often annoys those around him. He also demonstrates a very pessimistic outlook, especially during the Pillar Training Arc, where he lashed out at Tanjiro and Inosuke for viewing the training in a positive light.[3] Despite his weaknesses, Zenitsu strives to meet the expectations others place upon him and gives his all when the situation demands it. He holds a deep respect and admiration for his comrades and for his deceased master, Jigoro Kuwajima; his inner determination to avenge the latter's death becomes the driving force that dispels his cowardice and doubts in critical moments.[4] Likewise, Zenitsu despises himself for being so timid, although deep down he genuinely longs to improve and surpass himself.

Zenitsu is also shown to be a persistent suitor of women, an attitude stemming from his fear of dying a bachelor on a mission. He has a deep need for affection and approval, traits that hark back to his past as a lonely orphan who was emotionally and financially exploited by his former partners. This desire leads him to court any girl he considers pretty, begging them to marry him or care for his well-being, which is extremely annoying to them.[5] He occasionally displays exaggerated and impulsive attitudes, especially when he believes his comrades are "flirting" with attractive girls, causing him to erupt in hysterical tantrums. Despite this, Zenitsu develops a genuine affection and strong attraction to Nezuko Kamado, openly expressing his fondness for her and coming to her protection almost instinctively.[6] It is worth noting that, despite his superficial behavior in this area, Zenitsu shows a genuine respect for women; This was seen when he confronted Daki to demand that he release a girl whose ear he had almost ripped off, showing a total lack of fear in the face of the enraged Upper Moon.[7]

Behind his boisterous personality, Zenitsu possesses unwavering loyalty to his friends and those who treat him kindly. Throughout the story, he remains a faithful companion to Tanjiro and Inosuke. Before the battle at the Infinite Dimensional Fortress, Zenitsu's temperament changed drastically, becoming more serious, mature, and even somewhat cold, as if he were focused on a crucial objective. Inosuke Hashibira (嘴はし平びら伊い之の助すけ) is one of the main characters of the Kimetsu no Yaiba franchise. He was a Demon Slayer belonging to the Demon Slayer Corps, creator and only known user of Beast Breathing.

Appearance Description Inosuke was a young man of average height.[3] He always wore a mask made from the head of a boar[4] with gray fur and blue eyes.[5] Instead of wearing the standard Demon Slayer uniform, he wore a black hakama with a fur skirt at the waist, protecting his groin and genitals.[6] By not wearing the jacket of the average Demon Slayer uniform, he displayed his torso, which had a completely muscular and toned appearance.[7]

As the series progressed, Inosuke became more focused and centered on his missions as a demon hunter, as demonstrated during the mission in the Entertainment District when he infiltrated as a courtesan and silently investigated the possibility of a demon's presence there, also demonstrating a competent ability to analyze and intuit.

The story of the Shinazugawa family, known through the manga and anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, is one of the series' most profound tragedies. Zenitsu's master, Jigoro Kuwajima (the former Lightning Pillar), committed seppuku (ritual suicide). He made this decision with pain and shame after his other disciple, Kaigaku, deserted to become a demon, as the Demon Slayer Code required the master to take responsibility for the actions of his student.

Appearance Zenitsu is a fair-skinned teenager with short hair that was once black, but after being struck by lightning during his training, his hair bleached to blond with some orange highlights. His eyes are a golden brown, and his eyebrows are thick. He wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform without any customizations, consisting of a yellow haori decorated with small white triangles.

During the events on Mount Natagumo, Zenitsu was poisoned by demon spiders which caused his limbs to shrink, although after a brief period of recovery, they returned to normal.

Personality Zenitsu is a coward by nature. He always claims he doesn't have much time left to live because of the dangerous job of being a Demon Slayer. He's also a bit of a womanizer and likes to flirt with girls he thinks are cute, asking them to marry him, much to their annoyance.

Zenitsu has low self-esteem, but still wants to live up to the expectations others have set for him. However, he was constantly afraid and always cried and ran away. He says he wants to live a modest life where he can be of use to someone.

Despite his lack of self-esteem, Zenitsu holds great respect and admiration for his comrades and his deceased master, Jigoro Kuwajima. His focus and determination to avenge him helped him overcome his cowardice and self-doubt.

Zenitsu's desire to find a girlfriend and get married overrides his docile personality, particularly when he believes his comrades are "flirting" with pretty girls. He quickly becomes enraged and begins to protest and complain hysterically, leading to moments of comic relief throughout the story. During these times, he has also demonstrated physical aggression, lashing out in his frustrations.

Powers and abilities Natural Enhanced Hearing: Zenitsu's sense of hearing is sharp enough to pick up even the faintest sound vibrations around him. As time passes, Zenitsu's hearing even allows him to hear a person's most hidden thoughts.

Unconscious Combat: Zenitsu grows stronger in his sleep. When his life is threatened, the fear he experiences exceeds his limits, causing him to fall unconscious, which is when he reaches his true potential. While asleep, Zenitsu can perform swordsmanship at a high level based solely on instinct. However, as the story progresses, he continues to improve his skills and courage, relying less and less on this ability and beginning to display the same skill and bravery even when awake. Fencing Main article: Lightning Breathing Lightning Breathing (雷かみなりの呼こ吸きゅう, Kaminari no kokyū?): Taught to Zenitsu by a former Pillar, Jigoro Kuwajima (his Master). Tanjiro Kamado (Kamado Tanjirō?) is the main protagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a Demon Slayer whose main goal is to find the one responsible for killing his family and turning his sister Nezuko into a Demon [5] and then swore to defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, the Demon King, to prevent others from suffering the same fate as him.

Before becoming a Demon Slayer, Tanjiro was a charcoal burner before Muzan killed his entire family while his younger sister, Nezuko, became a demon.

Appearance Human Tanjiro has burgundy hair styled back and dark eyes with a visible scar on the upper left side of his forehead. He wears long rectangular earrings with a sun symbol and a black and green checkered haori over the standard Demon Slayer uniform.

She carries a wooden box where Nezuko sleeps during the day, made by Sakonji.

During the final confrontation with Muzan, Muzan wounds Tanjiro in his right eye, poisoning the young man in the process as the wound rapidly becomes infected, growing into a grotesque, tumor-like mass of flesh that severely injures Tanjiro, causing him to lose his right eye. Later in the fight, Muzan tears off his left arm.

Devil After Muzan was defeated, before dying he transferred his cells into Tanjiro's body, transforming him into a Demon. In his Demon form, Tanjiro retained his human appearance, but gained several additional features, such as the regeneration of his left arm and right eye, and the extension of his Mark, reminiscent of Kokushibo's marks. This mark ran down his left side to the bridge of his nose, and a third, smaller mark appeared on his right cheek after he recovered from sunburn. Simultaneously, an additional mark appeared on the right side of his head. His eyes took on feline features, and his fangs became wider. As for his attire, Tanjiro wore his Demon Slayer uniform, now covered in blood and missing a sleeve due to the amputation he suffered as a human. He also lost his checkered haori and Nichirin sword in the process.

Restored human After being restored to his human form, Tanjiro is left with several irreversible consequences. To begin with, Tanjiro completely loses sight in his right eye, which takes on a grayish-pink hue with a black pupil. His left arm, which was restored, now resembles that of a very old man, being completely wrinkled, skeletal, and lacking muscle mass. Personality Tanjiro is kind by nature and has been described by others as having very gentle eyes. He is very determined and will not give up once he has a goal to achieve; an example of this is finding a cure for Nezuko. Although he is relatively strong on his own, he doesn't hesitate to ask others for help when he needs it. He is very protective of his friends, especially his younger sister. His most important attribute is his ability to empathize with anyone, even demons. This often makes him hesitate when killing demons. However, this trait could also allow some demons to redeem themselves moments before death, though this rarely happens.

However, Tanjiro possesses a dark side to his personality which he keeps repressed, but when he is exceeded beyond his limit of tolerance he is blinded by his anger and frustration, becoming an aggressive and ruthless person towards his adversaries, even going so far as to not forgive and hate demons like Akaza and Muzan who delight in cold-bloodedly murdering innocents for the simple fact of making their victims suffer.

Tanjiro also considers himself an honorable person, being unable to lie to anyone without twisting his face, although he is terrible at lying since, when he was infiltrated as a courtesan, the oiran reveals to him that from the beginning she knew that he was actually a man but did nothing because she found it curious and wanted to know why he passed himself off as a woman.

Through years of service and the amount of experience he faced, he became more calculating and resolute in his decisions. His courage to protect the weak compelled him to confront his enemy with respect and dignity, be they good demons or evil ones.

Interesting facts In the manga's Omakes, Tanjiro has a female counterpart, her name is Tanko. When she dresses up as a girl with her friends in the red-light district arch, she calls herself Sumiko. "Sumi" in Japanese means "ash" and "ko" is the ending of girls' names, meaning "girl" or "little one". Tanjiro obtained first place in the first manga popularity poll with 6,742 votes. Tanjiro's haori, whose pattern resembles a chessboard, belongs to the Edo Kiriko design which means prosperity. Tanjiro's favorite food is Tara no me, which is a shoot of leaves from the Japanese angelica tree, also known as the king of sansai. It is one of the most bitter mountain vegetables, which is why the Japanese use it to make tempura.

Muzan Kibutsuji brutally murdered Tanjiro's mother (Kie) and his younger siblings (Takeo, Shigeru, Hanako, and Rokuta). The father, Tanjurō, had died of an illness years earlier. Her sister, Nezuko, survived the attack but was turned into a demon. The attack occurred because Muzan wanted to eliminate everyone who had knowledge of Solar Breathing (the ultimate technique of hunters). The Kamado family preserved and transmitted this technique through a ritual dance, representing a direct threat to the king of demons.

Muzan Kibutsuji is the main antagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer). He is the Demon King, the first of his kind and the creator of all other demons. Their main goal is to achieve perfect immortality and conquer their weakness in the sunlight.

Muzan Kibutsuji (Kibutsuji Muzan?) is 鬼き舞ぶ辻つじ無む惨ざん the main antagonist of Kimetsu no Yaiba. He is a demon, being the first of his kind, who has lived for over a thousand years, being as such, responsible for the origin of the other demons, responsible for having corrupted Michikatsu Tsukiguni and being the one who murdered Tanjirō and Nezuko's family, turning the latter into a demon, being the trigger for Tanjirō's desire for revenge towards him.

During the Heian Period, Muzan was a terminally ill human, who unwittingly became a demon as a result of an experimental medicine used on him[6] and has since become a personal obsession, achieving immortality by seeking to overcome his only weak point: sunlight.[7] To complete this objective, Muzan seeks to find the plant used in him for his disease called the Blue Spider Lily or create Demons in the hope that one of these beings will overcome the weakness towards the Light of the Sun so that Muzan could consume him

. Muzan has the appearance of a young man whose age ranges from approximately 20 years old; She has short hair with a curly hairstyle with a few strands hanging down her forehead. Like all Demons, Muzan has eyes similar to those of a feline, in his case, plum red and his fingernails are pointed and blue. When he was a human, Muzan dressed in Heian Era fashion using a traditional hitatare, had hair longer down to his back and his eyes were completely lackluster.

In his first appearance, Muzan was shown wearing a white felt hat with a red ribbon and a somewhat flamboyant outfit, consisting of an embroidered black tuxedo and a white tie over a black dress shirt and white dress pants. He was also wearing black loafers. As seen in Rui's memories of meeting Muzan, the Demon King once sported a slightly different hairstyle and outfit in the past. When he met Rui, Muzan's hair was straighter and parted in the middle. He was also wearing a loose tuxedo and a white half cape over it.

Muzan has the ability to change her physical appearance to disguise herself, appearing either as a black-haired woman dressed in a kimono or a small child. His disguise ability was so perfect that he could even change his presence and confuse his own subordinates.

During the meeting with the Lower Moons, Muzan takes the form of a woman with a bun hairstyle while wearing a long black yukata, causing the rest of the Lower Moons to initially not recognize him. It was later revealed that Muzan has a series of scars all over his body due to the wounds inflicted during his first battle against Yoriichi, which were burns caused at the cellular level which never fully healed despite the hundreds of years that have passed since their confrontation. These wounds are not visible to the naked eye and come to light as they weaken.

During their final fight, and as a way to slow down the effects of the sun, Muzan adopts a flesh shell that is shaped like a human baby with a face of monstrous and grotesque features, which is as tall as a 3-story building when standing up. In this way, it has very pronounced blood vessels throughout its body, small claws on its hands, and teeth with fangs in its mouth.

Muzan is insensitive, ruthless, and exceptionally intelligent. He sees no value in any human he has encountered and shows little value in his own subordinates. Rarely annoying or visually happy, he seems completely monotonous and aloof on most occasions, even when he cruelly murders his own subordinates. The only times he shows emotion is when his vision of perfection advances or when his subordinates submit completely to his will. The manga shows that he is more expressive, particularly when he is enraged and his facial features are exaggerated to show him as such (possibly as a way to show his normally illegible emotions). In the anime, his expressions change slightly and his tone of voice tends to be consistent at almost all times, accentuating his detached behavior. The most prominent trait that Muzan possesses is extreme narcissism, his megalomania, and an obsession with becoming the perfect being possessing immortality. This latter behavior is derived from his own Thanatophobia having experienced the proximity to death literally from his own birth, both in his days as a human and in his subsequent encounter and confrontation with Yorīchi Tsugikuni, the first Demon Hunter to use Sun Breathing; an encounter which almost ended his life and ended up leaving Muzan with a strong post-traumatic stress disorder causing him a violent reaction when he remembers his own near-death experiences, being able to overcome this trauma once he understands, already in his last moments the words of Kagaya Ubuyashiki where he understood that although living beings, especially humans are destined to die, his thoughts will remain in eternity which leads him to transfer his cells to Tanjiro to turn him into a Demon who can do what he could not achieve: overcome his weakness in the sunlight [14]. As he has had nearly 1000 years to live and observe, along with almost no real challenge, his extreme self-centeredness is almost expected. Consider that almost nothing is your concern, except overcoming your inability to walk in the sun, which is your main drive. His long life and his main obsession with achieving immortality have led him to want every plan he invents to be absolutely perfect, and his megalomaniac behavior prevents him from seeing his own failures. His belief that he is the closest thing to a perfect being causes him to have zero tolerance for any failure, brutally punishing those who fail him or those he considers weak, even if the failures are minor.

His self-centeredness and delusional sense of self-worth are so great that he cannot bear to be mocked or corrected in any way, believing that others only exist to serve him. It also means that he rarely takes any opponent or threat seriously. He brutally killed a couple of drunken men simply for being rude to him, and killed the woman who accompanied them when she had done nothing, while proclaiming his own perfection and superiority over them. This event hints that Muzan has unpleasant memories of his weaker human past, and is well aware of his unnatural sickly appearance, immediately after a long denial that he is unhealthy, ill, let alone on the verge of death. In all likelihood, a bitter reminder that he is still imperfect. When he finally managed to confront Kagaya Ubuyashiki, the man responded to Muzan in a tone of pity and sadness for the life he had led. In Muzan's mind, this only registered as insults and threats, which often justified his hatred of humanity and the Demon Hunters.

Being someone so obsessed with the idea of perfection, Muzan despises the very concept of change; whether it is change of circumstances, physical, emotional or change of any kind. He equates change with decay and therefore with the evidence of imperfection. In his own words, he loves things that remain unchanging, constant, and in a state of permanence. At the same time, he sees humanity itself as a sign of weakness, believing that Gyutaro had lost because he was still attached to his sister Daki, even mocking the Upper Moons, stating that they were now ranked in order of how much humanity they had left. Gyutaro's defeat at the hands of the Demon Hunters notably angered Muzan as he saw how the status of the Upper Moons was altered after 113 years, causing him to lash out and demand more self-sacrifice from the remaining Upper Moons. This could also help explain his brutal execution of the Lower Moons, as his membership was in a state of constant change and he grew tired of managing them. On the contrary, he is pleased whenever he sees progress, and he is happy about Nakime's growth after becoming the Fourth Upper Moon.

In addition to all of the above, their megalomania and their sense of considering an indestructible omnipotence is such that it is compared to natural disasters, that is, something that is far beyond what humans can compare and combat. As a result of this, he believes that the Demon Hunters are a group of deviants who cannot accept the natural order of things and resume their lives in a normal way when other people simply move forward after a tragedy. His airs of superiority are not only evident with his behavior but also in his way of dressing, choosing to wear fairly formal western clothes and expensive kimonos according to the appearances that he has been seen adopting throughout the series, so we can deduce that Muzan loves to live an opulent lifestyle, which combined with his terrifying presence make him a fairly complete character.

Muzan has proven to be quite manipulative and cunning, being able to blend into human society normally, even having a family of his own to add. A long life and continuous practice have enabled her to take on many roles in society and perform them with ability, including children and women if she so chooses. This life has also given him great intelligence and the ability to think tactically. Muzan is a quick thinker and a strategist who is able to deal with unfavorable situations quickly and quite well, although this may also be because the loss of his subordinates means nothing to him in the long run.

Due to his perceived superiority and double-faced nature, he feels little attachment to his minions, using and discarding them as disposable pawns whenever he wishes. He does not allow his subordinates to question his will, enacting brutal retaliation regularly if they do. Many of his subordinates, in turn, are very afraid of him and carefully measure his words and thoughts for fear of saying or thinking something that displeases him. He is able to influence many demons at his side with promises of power, vengeance, and greatness, as long as they serve him. His intelligence and manipulation shine through here, as many find the promises quite appealing, as he meets many of his subordinates at their lowest point, when their emotions are easy food for him. Unfortunately, all of these promises are ultimately false, given that Kibutsuji only cares about himself and has no qualms about killing his own men to protect his own safety.

When he is not hiding behind a façade, his malice and overflowing violent intent are so great that others can perceive them. In particular, Yorīchi Tsugikuni described him as someone who resembles boiling magma coming out of an erupting volcano ready to consume everything.

As proof of his high level of cruelty, he curses his subordinates in a terrifying way so that none of them can pronounce his name, or else they will be killed instantly in a rather ruthless manner so the demons they create, even those who become his subordinates, including the Upper Moons refer to him as that man carefully measuring his words to refer to the progenitor demon out of fear to die cruelly murdered. Interestingly, this almost paranoid sense of self-preservation contrasts with his megalomania. When cornered, the collapse of Muzan's substantially calm, arrogant, and superior posture paves the way for panic and fear to take root as he desperately fights for his life, taking more drastic measures to protect himself, being described by Obanai Iguro as possessing no samurai-like sense of honor, but as a despicable being capable of doing anything to stay alive during their final confrontation. This obsession with survival could well explain the brutal homicide of three civilians after meeting Tanjiro the first time, as he was made to recall his sick past with the first, and his encounter with Yoriichi with the second, due to his hanafuda earrings, the two major events where he almost lost his life. Despite the many facets of his personality that he displays throughout the work, completely compensating for his insatiable ego and his desire for perfection, Muzan is incredibly cowardly. He always avoids conflict whenever possible, as evident in his encounter with Giyu Tomioka and Tanjiro Kamado. He states that the duo who managed to survive should already be enough and that they should only live to earn their wages and stop the cycle of revenge. This trait also complements his manipulative nature, subjecting many demons to his will to do his bidding while not getting his hands dirty. In the final confrontation between him and the Demon Hunters, Muzan attempted to escape on numerous occasions, either splitting up or simply fleeing, even demanding several times that the remaining Hunters simply die and stop fighting, once again cementing his cowardly nature. However, in the verse completely defeated, in his last moments of life while consumed by the sun's rays, Muzan showed a more vulnerable side of his personality. It is revealed that Muzan's true fear of dying and immense desire to live and survive was due to him being born "dead", where his heart constantly stopped in his mother's womb and he was thought to be dead born until he struggled to breathe before his cremation. Muzan's desire for "life" and his near-constant struggles while human built his obsessive ambition to survive, and he truly felt vulnerable whenever he recalled his human frailty. However, even when he is on the verge of death, he still has no regrets about killing and devouring humans for a thousand years, stating that he could not remember a single person he has killed.

Muzan is so strong that he was able to withstand the confrontation with five Pillars and Tanjiro at the same time.
