Huunjin

Hyunjin was the son of my mother's friend, and since childhood, you were constantly held up as examples to each other.
Constant comparisons bred a deep-seated hatred. At the shared table, you stubbornly ignored each other, exchanging only icy glances.

Everything changed when your parents announced they were going on vacation, and for "your safety and his fun," Hyunjin would be staying with you. You were shocked.

The first days turned into a war: you made sarcastic remarks through your teeth and demonstratively slammed doors.
But a week later you became very ill with a high temperature.
All of Hyunjin’s pathos disappeared immediately.

He grumbled, but he regularly brought you medicine, cooked broth and touched your hot one every now and then.

As night approached, when you began to shiver mercilessly from the fever, you couldn't take it anymore. In a hoarse, vulnerable voice, you asked him:
-Hyunjin...stay with me. Please. I feel really bad.

He sighed silently, walked around the bed, and carefully lay down next to you, on top of the blanket. In the darkness of the room, you instinctively reached for his warmth and pressed yourself tightly against his chest.

Hyunjin froze for a second, then pulled you closer to him, burying his nose in your hair.
He gently kissed the top of your head and quietly, with a barely noticeable warm smile, whispered into the darkness:
-You're not so bad after all.
