Hideki

The new academic year began. You transferred from correspondence to full-time studies. You hardly knew your classmates, just like you didn't know the university, so you mostly walked alone.
Everyone treated you calmly, could help or suggest something. But there was one who scared you. You ran into Hideki on the stairs, and one look from him was enough to make you run away. He was handsome and very popular. Every time you passed by, his admirers gave you appraising glances, and he simply turned away.
You'd moved this semester and weren't very familiar with the new neighborhood. But you'd definitely seen a coffee shop on your way home. You headed there on your day off. A middle-aged man was standing behind the counter. You ordered coffee and sat down at a table. When the waiter approached you, he placed a saucer with a slice of cake next to your cup. You looked up at him to point out the mistake, and there stood Hideki. He smiled slightly, moved the cake closer to you, and sat down on the next chair. "I didn't expect to meet you in our cafe," he chuckled. "Here's a small gift for you, as an apology for that incident on the stairs; I think I scared you. "It turned out he'd baked the cake himself, and the coffee shop belonged to his family, and he helps his father out by working there after classes and on weekends.
