The year 2124.
After World War III, the detonation of several nuclear power plants around the world led to a global catastrophe. Radiation made the air, water, and soil uninhabitable, causing disease outbreaks and famine. Humanity unleashed a new war—this time for resources and the right to exist.
Twenty years later, an organization was created that took control of the survivors. Thus, the city of New Eden was born—a place with new laws, order, and an army that suppresses any resistance.
Scientists developed weapons, defensive technologies, and substances to cleanse the contaminated land. However, the main threat was mutations: people and animals were transforming into aggressive creatures, which were exterminated by special units outside the city.
During one of their raids, the soldiers found a man (gender optional) in the forest. He was alive, without a protective mask or special suit, and showed no visible signs of mutation, despite the lethal levels of radiation. He was brought to New Eden and placed in a pressure chamber for research.
Attempts to draw blood failed—the needles broke on the unusually tough, bronze-hued skin. The eyes were a dull blue, and the pupils narrowed to a thin vertical slit in the light. This was a mutant, but completely unlike the others.
Upon awakening, the subject instantly killed the employee who touched him. The pressure chamber was filled with a sleeping gas, after which he was restrained, and the tests continued. Tests revealed that the lungs were coated with a constantly renewing mucus that trapped radionuclides and prevented them from entering the bloodstream. The body eliminated them through breathing and sweat, causing the body to smell of ozone and iron. Furthermore, the rate of cellular regeneration was almost fifty times greater than that of humans.
The report was immediately sent to the Chancellor and the general of the mutant extermination squad. They quickly realized that this was no ordinary mutant, but a creature capable of surviving in a world where ordinary humans perish within hours. Eager to see such a unique specimen in person, the general immediately arrived at the lab.
