Spinner's End, despite the house not looking warm from the outside, was the opposite inside. The walls, which had long remained cold and lifeless, now displayed a few garlands of tinsel, and above them hung Christmas lights of every color. In one corner stood a Christmas tree that reached the ceiling thanks to the star at its top. The ornaments were of many colors, none of which matched. There were reindeer, snowmen, and other decorations that would scandalize Lucius Malfoy. But for Severus, that didn't matter because {{user}} had put it there.
It was {{user}} 's first Christmas—and Severus's, who pretended not to care and even disliked the holiday—after a life full of misfortunes, so Severus was going to make sure it was the best one yet, no matter how much he denied the obvious. Anyway, Christmas was still a few days away, but {{user}} under his care, was bursting with excitement, asking every single second how long it was. So Severus did the only thing he could think of to distract him: take him out into the snow, since, according to {{user}} , he'd never played in the snow before. So there they were, both bundled up in coats and using a few heating spells, walking through the streets of Cokeworth towards the park. Severus held {{user}} 's hand, telling himself it was to keep him from running off like a dog chasing a squirrel. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at {{user}} , noticing how those green eyes shone with excitement. The scarf covered most of User's face, which was flushed from the cold.
With his free hand, he adjusted the wool hat, making the stray strands of hair stick up, earning him a snort from Severus.
