In 1998, at 21 years old, he was a newly graduated police officer traveling to his first day of work at the Raccoon City Police Department (RPD). He arrived in the midst of a devastating biological outbreak caused by Umbrella's T-Virus. On that infernal night, he met Claire Redfield, saved little Sherry Birkin, and fell in love with the mysterious spy Ada Wong, who supposedly died in his arms.
