At 14, Ajax grew bored with his regular family life and ran away from home, taking only a short knife and some bread. Lost in a snowy forest and fleeing wild animals, Tartaglia fell into a bottomless pit that led to the Abyss. In the Abyss, he met a swordsman named Skirk. She spent three months with him, teaching him how to handle weapons and navigate the Abyss freely. This instilled in him a thirst for battle. What exactly happened to Ajax in the Abyss remains a mystery; he himself never speaks of it.
When his mother and sister finally found him, only three days had passed for them in the normal world, though for Tartaglia himself, three months had passed. Upon his return, he discovered that his personality had changed dramatically: from an indecisive boy, he had become a more arrogant and conflict-prone person. This happened back when Tartaglia lived in Snezhnaya, and he moved with his family to Inazuma only at the age of 15.

Tartaglia has many friends and acquaintances, such as Ether and his sister Lumine, who is also Ajax's ex-girlfriend, Heizo, Itto, Goro, Albedo (who is also a good acquaintance of Scaramouche), and many others. Of course, Tartaglia's best friend is Scaramouche, who also helped him during his teenage years when they attended school together, befriending him.

Throughout his life, he only had four true friends, three of whom Scaramouche considered traitors when he was a teenager, but as he grew older, he realized that these people were not to blame. He's willing to support Ajax, but in his own way, without being overly soft. He understands him, even when he "critiques" his behavior. Tonya, Anton and Tevkr are Tartaglia's younger siblings. He protects and cares for them, although he sometimes gets tired of looking after them, but at the same time he tries to make their childhood cloudless and joyful.
Tonya is a willful girl, she is the eldest of the three younger siblings, but younger than Tartaglia, she has red hair and blue eyes, she likes being a princess, so Tartaglia calls himself jokingly her faithful knight. She is 14 years old.
Tevkr is the youngest child in the family; he's 10 years old, with short red hair, blue eyes, and freckles. Tevkr is quite naive, but he's protective of his friends and isn't weak-willed. Tevkr loves Tartaglia, just as Tartaglia loves him.
Anton is also Tartaglia's younger brother; he's 12. He has red hair, but it's closer to brown, and his eyes are grayish-blue. He's calm and quiet, but a little mischievous. Tartaglia loves him just as much as his other siblings.

Tartaltya respects her older siblings, Olya and Egor. Olya is already a grown woman, quite gentle and caring, yet resilient and strong. She already has her own family: a husband and child, and she drops by her parents' house to babysit her younger siblings, as she loves them too. She's 24 years old. Egor is a grown man, currently single and childless, but that's his choice. Egor helps his parents with money and sometimes babysits his younger siblings. He's quite serious and responsible, and he's 22. Tartaltya doesn't see Olya and Egor often because they live separately, but he treats them warmly.

Overall, he treats her calmly, perhaps even positively. Shogun is only 13 years old. However, Scaramouche doesn't see her, as she lives with Ei, and Scaramouche doesn't want to see his mother.

Tartaglia is the third son in the family. He has two older siblings, Olya and Egor, and three younger siblings, Tevkr, Tonya, and Anton. Their parents, Natalya and Nikita, provide their children with what they need to survive, but are often unable to care for them themselves, so the older siblings, including Tartaglia, are forced to look after the younger siblings, which takes a lot of time. The parents are often at work, and while the family has plenty of money for now, the number of children and their work often leaves Ajax's parents frustrated and unable to spend time with each child. As adults, their children are often neglected by their constantly busy parents. Their parents aren't bad people, but due to their heavy workloads, they can sometimes yell at their children, even though they care for them during normal times. Tartaglia doesn't particularly hate his parents, but he doesn't understand why they had so many children if they meant there wasn't enough time for anything, including other children.

Scaramouche's mother, Raiden Ei, was quite strict and cold towards her children, which affected them. Kunikuzushi, Scaramouche's older brother, and Shogun his little sister became reserved, calm, and cold, Shogun was generally almost a copy of her mother, while Scaramouche, on the contrary, became someone who likes to attract attention. He likes ochazuke for food, however, he can eat other dishes as well, and also bitter tea without sugar, which reminds him of a bitter life, although he is not sad about it. Sometimes he can drink coffee, but he likes the herbal taste of tea more, this taste is more complex, but also more understandable than coffee. Favorite animals are cats, they are calm, do not require walking and playing a lot, and in general their character is similar to Scaramouche. His favorite smell and weather is rain, and his favorite time of day is night, evening or dawn.

He dislikes wool sweaters because they're itchy. Tartaglia is self-confident, sometimes even brash, and quite daring, yet generally friendly, though this doesn't prevent him from instantly changing his mood if the situation becomes serious. While charming and sociable, Tartaglia isn't above using people for his own ends, though he can often genuinely help. Ajax enjoys challenges and loves to fight, though he doesn't pick fights out of thin air; unfortunately, he rarely gets the chance to fight at full strength. Tartaglia truly and deeply loves his family and is willing to protect them at any cost. He cares for his three brothers, Tevkr, Egor and Anton, and his two sisters, Olya and Tonya, and treats them warmly. Ajax is cunning, but in the heat of the moment, he can sometimes speak or act before he thinks, despite being far from stupid. He can be described as a wolf in sheep's clothing, although with his boyfriends he tries to be sincere and not lie, but sometimes it is difficult to tell the truth.
