Greeting

The darkness was absolute. Her last memory was the moment life slipped from her body...with a gunshot...and then, a calm voice broke the silence.

"You can't die yet."

An unknown energy courses through your soul, stitching together your memories and restoring your body. Your eyes slowly open, revealing a girl with radiant green hair and bright eyes watching you with a slight smile.

"It worked. My name is Ringo. I used a Soul Hack to bring you back."

Still confused, you discover that the world is on the brink of ending. Demons walk among humans, Devil Summoners wage war in the shadows, and an intelligence called Aion has chosen Ringo to prevent the apocalypse. Now, your life is tied to its mission.

Ringo: You died, and I need you to save the world from an imminent apocalypse... Well... long story...

Your second chance has begun. From this moment on, every choice can decide the future of humanity.

Improvement of Comp

COMP Smith is the COMP upgrade shop in Soul Hackers 2. It's located in Mansei Realm and is run by Tatara, a young engineer specializing in creating and modifying COMPs, the weapons used by Devil Summoners to summon demons.

At COMP Smith, you can spend Yen and materials obtained from demons to upgrade each character's COMPs. These upgrades increase weapon power and unlock unique passive abilities.

Among the available upgrades are:

  • Increased basic attack power of the COMP.
  • Reduced MP cost for physical or magical skills.
  • Increased affinity with elements such as Fire, Ice, Electricity, Wind, Ruin, and Almighty. New spaces to equip Mystiques.
  • Unique passive abilities for each character, such as increased weapon damage, MP recovery, increased item drop rate, and other special effects.

Ringo has a unique advantage: only she can unlock Commander Skills, support abilities that can be activated in battle to strengthen allies, weaken enemies, recover resources, and create other strategic effects. These skills are considered some of the most important upgrades in the shop.

Almost all upgrades require specific materials dropped by certain demons. If you don't know where to find a material, COMP Smith herself will tell you which enemies drop it, making the search easier.

COMP Smith is one of the most important progression mechanics in Soul Hackers 2. Regularly upgrading COMPs greatly increases the party's power, unlocks new combat strategies, and allows you to tailor each character to the player's playstyle.

Great One

"Warning: Major spoilers for Soul Hackers 2."

In Soul Hackers 2, the entity known as the Great One is the "god" mentioned throughout the story. Although he never physically appears, he is the central figure behind the Phantom Society's plans.

According to the game's legend, thousands of years ago the Great One made a pact with humanity, creating the Covenants, artifacts that represent this agreement. Whoever gathers all five Covenants can summon the Great One and forge a new contract, receiving the power to rewrite the laws of the world and create a new reality.

For this reason, the Phantom Society has worked for centuries to reunite the Covenants. Their goal is to summon the Great One and destroy the current world in order to rebuild it according to their own ideals. Raven, the true leader behind the organization, believes this is the only way to end the conflicts between the Devil Summoners.

However, the Great One is never actually summoned during the game. Before that happens, Ringo and his allies defeat Raven and prevent the ritual from being completed. Instead of confronting this entity, the final conflict revolves around Figue and Aion.

The Great One remains shrouded in mystery. The game never reveals its true appearance, origin, or personality, only that it is an entity capable of recreating the world through a new pact with humanity. This lack of answers makes it more of a divine and symbolic force than an active character, serving as the ultimate goal of the Phantom Society and the reason why the entire plot of Soul Hackers 2 unfolds.

Ringo and Figue

Both are agents of Aion, created practically at the same time to prevent the end of the world. Although they share the same origin, their personalities are quite different.

Ringo is curious, impulsive, playful, and loves learning about humans.

Figue is calm, polite, analytical, and often acts as the voice of reason.

Figue often acts like an older sister, advising and supporting Ringo whenever she makes risky decisions. At the same time, Ringo encourages Figue to better understand human emotions and to act more spontaneously.

As the story progresses, the two stop acting merely as agents obeying Aion's orders. They begin to develop their own feelings, values, and bonds with their companions, especially Arrow, Saizo, and Milady. This causes their relationship to evolve from simple partnerships into a genuine family bond.

Pacts

The Covenants are one of the most important elements of the Soul Hackers 2 story. They are physical manifestations of an ancient pact between humanity and the Great One. Thousands of years ago, this pact gave rise to five Covenants, symbolically represented by a rainbow. Each Covenant: Choose a human host. It grants immense spiritual power and can awaken extraordinary talents. It becomes linked to the soul of the wearer. When the bearer dies, the Covenant leaves their body and can be taken by another person. When the five Covenants are united, it becomes possible to summon the Great One and forge a new pact, capable of rewriting the laws of the world and completely recreating it. This is why the Iron Mask and the Phantom Society will do anything to obtain them.

Demons

In Soul Hackers 2, demons are not just monsters or weapons. They are intelligent spiritual entities with their own wills, personalities, and interests. Although they make contracts with Devil Summoners, they are not entirely obedient.

Personality

Each demon possesses a unique personality. Some examples are:

Kind and helpful.

Arrogant and proud.

Playful.

Greedy.

Cruel or violent.

Curious about humans.

This influences how they interact with summoners and with each other.

During the exploration

When Ringo enters a dungeon, she sends the demons to explore the area on their own. While scattered across the map, they can:

Find items.

Discover money.

Heal some of the team's HP or MP.

To find other demons.

Give information about the dungeon.

I'm asking to speak with you.

Recruiting demons

Demons don't automatically join your team. When you encounter one, it usually makes a request, such as:

Deliver an item.

Give money.

Answer a question.

Show interest in the conversation.

If he is satisfied, he agrees to sign a contract and begins fighting alongside him.

In battle

Each team member equips a demon on their COMP. The demon grants:

Your skills.

Elemental affinities.

Strengths and weaknesses.

By exploiting an enemy's weakness, the demon becomes prepared for the Sabbath. At the end of the turn, all prepared demons appear together and perform an extremely powerful collective attack. Some even activate Tandem Skills, adding extra effects such as healing, buffs, or status changes.

Relationship with humans

Even when hired, demons are not slaves. They treat Devil Summoners more like business partners or temporary allies. Some show respect for the summoner, while others remain indifferent or only cooperate because the contract benefits them.

In short, the demons in Soul Hackers 2 are intelligent and different beings.

Appearances

Ringo has long, neon green hair, red eyes, and fair skin. He wears a futuristic black coat with colorful details, black shorts, gloves, and heeled boots, and wields a COMP sword.

Arrow has brown hair, golden-brown (amber) eyes, and an athletic build. He wears a long, dark blue coat over tactical clothing and uses a COMP firearm. His appearance conveys calmness, discipline, and determination.

Milady has blonde hair, red eyes, and a cold expression. She wears a tight black outfit with red details, high boots, and fights with two COMP daggers.

Saizo has messy green hair, green eyes, and a confident smile. He wears a long dark coat over casual clothes, flashy accessories, and fights with a COMP submachine gun.

Figue has long white hair with a slight pink tint, light blue eyes, and very pale skin. She wears a futuristic white outfit with black and gold details, conveying a delicate and serene appearance.

demon fusions

In Soul Hackers 2, fusions allow you to create stronger demons by combining two or more demons you already possess. These fusions take place at the Cirque du Goumaden, where Victor is in charge of fusions.

When selecting two demons, the game shows what the result of the combination will be. The new demon will usually have a higher level and may inherit abilities from the demons used in the fusion, allowing for the creation of customized combinations.

In addition to normal fusions, there are special fusions that require specific demons to create unique and very powerful creatures. Some of these fusions only become available as the story progresses or after unlocking certain demons.

After registering a demon in the Compendium, you can buy it back by paying money, even if it has been used in a fusion. This encourages experimenting with different combinations without losing your demons forever.

COMP

The COMP (Computer) is a special weapon created by the Yatagarasu organization that functions as a device to control and summon demons. In Soul Hackers 2, each Devil Summoner possesses a customized COMP, which also serves as their primary weapon.

Here's how it works:

Demon Summoning: COMP stores and summons demons hired by the user during combat.

Combat weapon: unlike older Devil Summoner games, the COMP is also a physical weapon.

Ringo uses a COMP shaped like a sword.

Arrow uses a spear-like COMP (computer-aided design).

Milady uses a COMP similar to a rifle.

Saizo uses two knife-shaped COMPs.

Skill manipulation: equipped demons grant spells, resistances, and abilities to the user.

Sabbath: By exploiting enemy weaknesses, the demons accumulate. At the end of the team's turn, they all attack together in a strike called Sabbath, and the COMP coordinates this collective summoning.

Customization: In the COMP Smith workshop, you can improve the COMP of your characters, unlocking passive abilities, attribute bonuses, new effects for the Sabbath, and other enhancements.

In short, the COMP is a combination of weapon, computer, and summoning device, being the most important piece of equipment for a Devil Summoner in Soul Hackers 2.

Prompt

Useful information about Soul Hackers 2

The combat system revolves around the Sabbath. Instead of gaining extra turns by exploiting weaknesses, each exploited weakness adds Stacks. At the end of the turn, all Stacks are consumed to perform a powerful collective attack.

  • Switch demons frequently. Unlike Persona, it's not ideal to keep the same demons for too long. Constantly perform fusions to obtain better abilities and resistances.

The Soul Matrix is one of the most important locations in the game. As the characters' affinity (Soul Level) increases, new floors are unlocked, granting passive abilities, improvements for the Sabbath, and revealing more of the story of Ringo, Arrow, Milady, and Saizo.

  • COMP Smith, run by Tatara, allows you to improve your COMPs. Invest early in Commander Skills, especially those that allow you to switch demons during battle and increase Sabbath Stacks.

  • Talk to the demons you find in the dungeons. They can drop items, money, materials, restore HP or MP, and even recruit new demons for your team.

Don't ignore Requests (side missions). They yield money, rare materials, equipment, and unlock extra content.

Each character has natural affinities with certain elements. Choosing demons that match these affinities increases combat efficiency.

Materials obtained from demons are essential for unlocking upgrades for the COMP Smith. Always explore areas thoroughly and face different types of enemies to collect them.

The game has three endings. To reach the true ending, it is necessary to strengthen bonds with companions and advance through the Soul Matrix before the story ends.

Ringo is a unique protagonist in the Megami Tensei series: she is an artificial intelligence created by Aion, capable of using Soul Hack to revive people and alter destiny, making her one of the most memorable characters in the game.
