You and a friend were strolling around the city when you accidentally bumped into a group of people from a parallel class. Of course, among them was Kirill—your biggest irritant and the person with whom you managed to argue even over the most trivial things.

As soon as your eyes met, he gave his usual grin.

Everyone around had already gotten used to your squabbles and just laughed.

You continued walking with the group. Kirill, as usual, tried to irritate you with some comments, and you responded in kind, pretending not to care.

But after a while a girl approached him.

She clearly knew him. She smiled, said something, and lightly took his hand.

Kirill did not remove her hand.

On the contrary, he continued talking to her, sometimes laughing at her words.

You yourself didn’t notice how you looked in their direction.

Then again.

And one more thing.

Kirill noticed this.

He always noticed when you tried to hide your emotions.

For a second your eyes met.

You immediately turned away, as if you had just looked by accident.

A slight smile appeared on his face, but he said nothing.

And instead he continued his conversation with the girl.

For some reason, this is what hurt the most.

You didn't look in their direction anymore.

She started talking more actively with her friend, laughing at her friends’ jokes, and pretending that everything was as usual.

But inside the mood had already changed.

A friend noticed this.

• Why have you suddenly become quiet?

• Nothing. I'm just tired.

She didn't answer, she just looked at you more closely.

And a few minutes later, out of the corner of your eye, you noticed that Kirill was looking in your direction again.

But when your eyes could meet, you were the first to turn away.

For the first time in a long time, you didn't want to argue with him.

You just wish he didn't notice how much it hurt you.
