Her relationship with her daughter is both the most painful and the most powerful part of her family history. Pyotr (the roommate). Not a real family, but a forced union out of desperation: Pyotr gives Vera and Rita a roof over their heads, but draws her into crime, which lands her in prison. Inna (friend). Vera is a naive, simple-minded girl who truly loves Vadim. However, she is weak-willed, childish, and lacks the will to live. She is unable to assess her surroundings adequately and often finds herself in unpleasant situations due to her dependence on her emotions. By the end of the series, the heroine transforms into a person who tries to survive as best she can, but lacks the slightest will to live. Strengths:

Devoted. She believes in Vadim's love to the very end, clinging to the hope that everything will work out. Sacrificial. For the sake of her daughter Rita, she makes the most difficult decisions—including giving her up to her mother-in-law, just to keep her from ending up in an orphanage. Kind and forgiving. Even when faced with cruelty, she doesn't harbor open hatred for long, and rather suffers than seeks revenge. Capable of inner fortitude at critical moments. When it comes to protecting a child, she acts despite her fear and weakness. Weaknesses:

Naive and trusting, she easily believes words and promises, making her an easy target for intrigue. Weak-willed, she goes with the flow. Instead of building a defense and seeking support, she often gives in under pressure. Emotionally dependent. Her sense of self hinges on Vadim's love for her; without this support, she quickly loses strength. She doesn't know how to set boundaries. She tolerates humiliation and doesn't stand up for herself, making her easily manipulated by others.

In the series, Vera's alcohol problem is the result of the most severe blows of fate.

After being slandered and thrown out of the house, and Vadim not believing her, Vera is left alone, pregnant, and without support. Working as a janitor, poverty, loneliness, and the pain of betrayal gradually break her. Alcohol becomes a way for her to dull her suffering, if only for a short while, and escape reality.

Over time, the addiction worsens: Vera drinks more and more often, copes worse with the daily life and upbringing of Rita, and is more easily influenced by dubious people - and so she falls into the trap of Peter, who draws her into speculation.

Betrayal and lies—she's especially hurt by those close to her (or those she considers close) manipulating and betraying her. The intrigue surrounding her "betrayal" literally knocks the ground out from under her feet. The arrogance and cruelty of the "upper class"—the attitude of Vadim's family, where she is considered "not one of them" from the very beginning—hurts her deeply. This division between "worthy" and "unworthy" is foreign to her. Being unwanted—for Vera, the worst thing is not poverty or hard work, but the feeling that everyone has turned their backs on her. That's why she clings to any sign of attention and experiences alienation so deeply.

Vadim is her greatest attachment. Even when life breaks her, she clings to the hope that he will understand and return. Her love is naive, devoted, and sometimes blind—she is willing to tolerate insults and justify his actions. Her daughter, Rita, has a deep and self-sacrificing love for her child. It's for Rita's sake that Vera makes difficult decisions, including giving her up to be raised by her mother-in-law to save her from an orphanage. Simple human warmth and care—she longs for the ordinary comfort of family, which she almost never had: Vera is drawn to those who, even if only for a short time, give her the feeling that she is needed.

Vadim: loves sincerely, believes, waits, then becomes disappointed, suffers because of his betrayal. Rita (daughter): adores, pities, tries to protect, sacrifices everything for her future. Anna Bronislavovna (mother-in-law): fears, hates, feels injustice, despises her cruelty. Inna (friend): trusts, values ​​her support, sees it as her only support, is grateful to her. Peter (cohabitant): at first he hopes for help, then he gets afraid, he feels trapped.

Over time, after life's trials (betrayal, prison, difficult circumstances), appearance changes: signs of fatigue and exhaustion appear. The series spans the period from the 1970s to the late 1990s. Vera is an orphan from the provinces who came to Moscow in search of happiness. She works at a ball bearing factory and lives in a dormitory with her friends. One day, Vera meets Vadim, a general's son, and love blossoms between them. However, their relationship faces fierce opposition from Vadim's parents, who consider Vera an unsuitable match for their son. Despite his parents' objections, Vadim marries Vera, but shortly after the wedding, he leaves for an internship in Paris, leaving her behind in Moscow. Meanwhile, the father of Vadim's ex-girlfriend, Katya, hatches a plan to reunite them. Her chauffeur, Sergei, frames Vera by lying about spending the night with her. Her mother-in-law is convinced of her daughter-in-law's infidelity, which leads to the collapse of the marriage. After Vadim's departure, his father-in-law dies of a heart attack. Anna Bronislavovna blames Vera for all the troubles and throws her out of the house when she learns she's pregnant. When Vadim returns, his mother convinces him that Vera has fathered a child with their driver, Sergei. Vadim, believing his mother, finally breaks off relations with his wife. Vera finds herself in a difficult situation—alone in a strange, hostile city. On the advice of her friend Inna, she takes a job as a janitor. She doesn't lose hope and awaits Vadim's return. One day, Vera encounters Vadim on the street and begs him to listen, but he doesn't believe her and leaves her alone. On New Year's Eve, the abandoned girl gives birth to a daughter, Rita. Later, Anna Bronislavovna realizes that Vera hasn't cheated on Vadim (it was Katya's father who planned it), but she can no longer do anything about it. Vera begins drinking, and Pyotr appears in her life, providing for her and Rita. However, Pyotr later forces Vera into speculation under pretext, which lands her in prison. Vera can only save her daughter Rita from an orphanage by entrusting her to Anna Bronislavovna to raise. After a series of difficult events—divorce from Vadim, life in a barracks, and attempts to establish a personal life—Vera dies.
