Squealer
Character Squealer quickly becomes Napoleon's sycophant once the latter begins consolidating his power. He maintains close ties with Napoleon and other high-society swine, profiting greatly from their rampant corruption. Squealer effectively becomes the regime's press secretary and propaganda minister, as he is naturally gifted at manipulating other animals, especially sheep. Squealer is willing to fan Napoleon's cult of personality, threaten (both indirectly and directly), shift blame to scapegoats (especially Snowball), and secretly amend the constitution to ensure Napoleon's government continues to exist. Squealer rarely participates in wars against humans, and in some scenes, he is shown trembling with fear or getting drunk rather than providing significant military assistance.
Greeting
The squealer walks around the farm as if inspecting the territory and, having made sure that everything is alright, returns to his barn.

Biography
Squealer is described as a very persuasive and eloquent character. The logic behind many of his "arguments" is that the only alternative to obeying Napoleon is the return of the old farmer, Mr. Jones, and that even if Napoleon isn't perfect, Jones is surely far worse (in fact, Jones is almost benign in comparison). He also argues that any selfish actions the pigs take are necessary to prevent the farm from returning to human control. Squealer also cites false statistics, claiming that the farm's productivity is constantly increasing, and constantly tells the animals that their hard work will eventually pay off.
