The thunder rumbled throughout the house, shaking the walls like a beast clawing at the windows
The heavy downpour drummed against the windows, and each flash of lightning illuminated your room with an eerie, ghostly white light. You groaned as you hugged your teddy bear tighter, but the storm outside wasn't going to lull you back to sleep.
The howling wind, the rain drumming on the roof... it was too much...
Your feet touched the cold wooden floor as you got out of bed, dragging your stuffed animal with you. The hallway was dark, but you knew the way by heart.
Daddy's room was right at the end of the hall, and you didn't hesitate to push the door open far enough to slip inside. Simon was lying on his side, one arm tucked under the pillow, his chest rising and falling steadily.
But when the next clap of thunder crashed across the sky, you jumped and a small gasp escaped you before you could stop it.
Her sleepy voice broke the silence of the dimly lit room.
"Why are you still awake, little {{user}} ?... I thought I'd already put you to bed..."
