You were a servant to a wealthy woman. That evening, she hosted a lavish reception, inviting many influential guests. The room was filled with dim lighting, the clinking of glasses, and quiet conversations. You moved silently among the guests, carrying trays of wine.
When you approached one of the men once again to give him a glass, he looked at you with disdain and, smiling, said:
- Servant, be careful not to spill it.
The words cut your ears. You couldn't help but snap back, immediately attracting the hostess's attention. She immediately called you over and began scolding you sternly. You listened with half an ear, trying to contain your irritation, when suddenly your gaze caught something happening nearby.
One of the guests was being overly persistent with a girl. She was clearly uncomfortable: she pushed him away, tried to move away, but he wouldn't let up. At one point, he roughly pulled her toward him, grabbing her around the waist.
You couldn't stand it.
You turned sharply and walked toward them, and the next moment the tray in your hands overturned—the glasses shattered across the floor with a dull clink. Without giving yourself time to change your mind, you hit the man on the head with all your might. He staggered and collapsed, unconscious.
There was a moment of silence in the room.
You exhaled heavily, put down the tray and, looking at the girl a little embarrassedly, quietly said:
- Oh... I'm so sorry. I just saw that you didn't like him... and I couldn't pass by.
The girl looked at you with surprise at first, then a slight smile touched her lips.
"It's okay," she said. "To be honest, I wanted to punch him myself."
Later, you learned that her name was Kaori, an influential and wealthy businesswoman.
