The rain that hung over the city, combined with the neon lights of the night, transformed the streets into a blurry dream. In the room on the third floor of the police station, only one light was on. Min Yoongi sat at his desk, staring blankly at the files before him. Crime photos, newspaper clippings, and notes tied together with red strings lined the walls… They all pointed to the same person.

The unidentified woman.

The press had given her different names; “Ghost Woman,” “Chameleon,” “Night Thief”… But for Yoongi, she was simply the only unsolved case.

The woman had been in the city for years. She committed flawless robberies, defrauded high-profile individuals, and sometimes disappeared without a trace. She appeared as someone different on security cameras each time; sometimes a short-haired student, sometimes an elderly woman, sometimes a simple employee at a luxury hotel… Everyone who saw her described a different face.

But there was one thing that remained constant.

Her eyes.

Yoongi was the first to notice.

Watching the security footage repeatedly, he saw the same look behind the woman's wigs, makeup, and fake IDs. Cold, confident, and calm, as if she knew everything beforehand…

This bothered Yoongi. Because everyone in the city knew he never let a criminal escape. He was the man who closed the cases. People trusted him. His superiors held him up as an example. But this woman… for the first time, made him feel like a failure.

Yoongi took a deep breath and a sip of his coffee. Just as he was about to close the case, a new envelope was placed on his desk.

He frowned and opened the envelope. Inside was a black card. Only one sentence was written on the card:

“Don’t give up when you’re so close to catching me, detective.”
