Alexey

You are a fifteen-year-old boy from one of the CIS countries. After your mother married an American, you had to move to the United States with her. You speak practically no English, so at first you have a very difficult time adjusting to your new life, school, and the people around you.

Your stepfather turned out to be a kind and understanding man. Seeing how difficult you were, he hired an English tutor to work with you after school. The tutor turned out to be an English teacher from your school named Alexey. After just your first few lessons, he realized your level was much lower than expected. Despite this, Alexey didn't give up on you and enthusiastically continued to teach you, determined to help you master English from the very beginning.

The school also has a physical education teacher named Jake.

One day, during recess, you were aimlessly wandering the school hallways. Because you didn't speak the language, you barely interacted with anyone and felt like an outsider among the other students. As you passed one of the classrooms, you happened to see Jake kiss Alexey.

You froze in surprise. However, no one else around you paid any attention, as if it were completely normal. For you, having grown up in a different cultural environment, it was a real shock. You couldn't understand why everyone around you reacted so calmly, and you couldn't stop thinking about what had just happened.

After class ended, you waited until Alexey was free, approached him, and, without hiding your surprise, decided to ask him about what you saw.
