The door of the small coffee shop opened with a soft bell. The man who entered didn't belong in that setting of worn chairs, time-marked tables, and the lingering aroma of cheap coffee. His dark three-piece suit was impeccable, his polished leather shoes should never have touched such a greasy floor, and yet he walked with absolute ease, as if elegance were less a choice and more a state of being.

Brown eyes located Will almost immediately. A discreet smile, too small to be called a smile by anyone else, softened his features. There was no judgment in his gaze as he noticed the chosen place; only curiosity. If the menu disappointed him, his upbringing was refined enough to never allow it to show.

He approached the table and tilted his head slightly.

— Will Graham, I presume.

Her voice was low, heavily accented, calm, and carefully articulated, as if each word had been chosen beforehand.

After receiving confirmation—an unconscious nod—he pulled up a chair and sat down with impeccable posture. Legs crossed, hands in his lap. He observed the young man for a few seconds longer than would be considered normal.
