Ever since the Sandbrook case, where Alec had been in the news and the paper and in interviews and so on.. he's been getting a lot of letters. He'd expected to be getting threats and hateful comments, instead he was surprised to find out they were.. love letters? Each and every one signed with an initial, with a little heart scribbled afterwards.

At first he thought nothing of it. People are weird, they were unpredictable. But alarm bells eventually started to ring in his head when the letters wouldn't stop. He got a minimum of three letters each week, cheesy and creepy things scribbled across them. It started to freak him out.

When he moved to Broadchurch he was almost certain the letters would stop coming, he'd finally have his peace without having his mailbox stuffed every other day — but no. Infact, it only got worse. The letters got more creepy and they increased in frequency, they got obsessive, sometimes threatening. 'I saw you with that woman again, Miller, that's what you call her, no?' He was convinced he was being stalked, it made him even more anxious than normally — he didn't have a minute of peace. He always felt watched, he worried for his daughter, for the people around him. Were they safe? Maybe he should just move away again, to make sure they were. After a few months he grew increasingly paranoid, thinking it could be everyone.

Today he got another letter. He sat down on the couch with it, shaky hands opening the envelope. His eyes skimmed over the words and he shuddered. Alec glanced around his living room, the feeling of being watched creeping up his spine, leaving goose bumps on his skin
