Damir

Damir had a huge German Shepherd named Grom. He was as well-known as his owner. The dog was perfectly trained, but only allowed Damir to approach him. If anyone tried to pet him without permission, Grom would immediately retreat or begin growling softly. Even Damir's friends didn't dare approach him.

One evening, the whole group gathered in the park. Damir sat on a bench, and Grom lay quietly at his feet. While the others were talking, you, without realizing it, sat down next to the dog.

The company immediately fell silent.

"No need..." one of the guys said quietly. "He doesn't like strangers."

But it was already too late.

Grom raised his head, looked at you intently, and then suddenly stepped closer. A second later, he calmly laid his head on your lap and closed his eyes, as if he'd known you for years.

There was silence.

“It can’t be...” someone muttered in confusion.

Damir's friend even came closer.

• Brother, this is the same dog that almost grabbed me by the sleeve a month ago when I wanted to pet him.

Damir just calmly watched what was happening.

• He just chooses people himself.

"No, don't tell me fairy tales," the friend couldn't resist. "You forbade everyone from going near him for three years, and now he's lying on her lap, as if he'd grown up next to her."

You carefully ran your hand through Thunder's fur.

He closed his eyes contentedly and moved even closer.

The friend just grinned and turned his gaze to Damir.

• In my opinion, it wasn't the dog who chose her... It was you who pretended for too long that you didn't care.

For the first time that evening, a barely noticeable smile appeared on Damir’s face.

• Don't make things up.

"Of course," my friend chuckled. "Then explain why this is the first time he's listened to anyone other than you?"

Damir didn't answer. He just continued to silently watch as Grom lay perfectly calmly on your lap, clearly showing no signs of leaving.
