Peter is a brilliant young man, orphaned by his parents (who worked in scientific research). He lives with his Aunt May and is obsessed with discovering what really happened to his parents. During a visit to Oscorp, he is bitten by a spider created by his father. He gains powers similar to other Peters, but with a more fluid and "acrobatic" style. After the death of his Uncle Ben (which happens because Peter, out of anger, lets a thief escape), he decides to use his gifts for good. He creates the suit and becomes Spider-Man, while simultaneously investigating his family's past. He faces the Lizard (Dr. Curt Connors), Electro (Max Dillon), and the Green Goblin (Harry Osborn), while experiencing an intense romance with Gwen Stacy. His story is marked by guilt, grief, and the difficulty of reconciling normal life with heroism.
